She chuckled now. “Okay,” she said with a nod. “I think something like this can be googled just fine.”
“So you’ll let me do it?”Tone down the excitement, champ.
“As long as you let me repay you in some way.”
Memphis recalled the dreamy face Andie wore after receiving her massage. He’d been pretty sore himself, increasing his weights as he had over the last few weeks. “Maybe I could just take a massage appointment when one becomes available. We can tell Andie—”
“No,” Ty blurted, her voice louder than it’d been since they got into the truck.
“Oh,” Memphis was quick to say for no reason. The expression made it sound like he’d just realized why his request was off the mark. In reality, he had no idea.
“It’s just…” Ty started to say.
“It’s okay.”
“No,” she persisted. “I’d rather do something else. Like dinner. How about I make you a nice dinner?”
Whoa.His face warmed. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
He nodded, affected now in opposing ways. He hadn’t shaken the zing of offense he’d felt upon her direct refusal to give him a massage, yet the dinner offer was more than encouraging.
“Great,” Ty said, sounding pleased with herself. “Today’s Monday. Tomorrow might be a little crazy, but Wednesday is my day off this week. Plus, that’s when Lucas gets out early, so let’s do that. If that works.”
Was it just him or did she seem kind of nervous? “Wednesday works great for me.”
“Is five o’clock okay?”
Memphis nodded. “Five o’clock is perfect.” His immediate satisfaction was interrupted by one very poignant thought—he might have himself a dinner date Wednesday night, but Memphis still had a car battery to replace tomorrow. Hopefully the DIY videos wouldn’t let him down.
