His eyes widened for a flash, the look of hurt gripping hold of his face.
She tried to explain further. “I felt like it was real in the parking garage this morning, but then Creed said something about you moving back to California and that made me worry again…”
Jace tipped his chin. “Yeah, I should’ve known that tactic wouldn’t work with you. I could see it in your eyes that you weren’t going to be satisfied if I kept you safe in some little corner.”
Amy let out a laugh. A nervous-sounding one. Because she was still trying to take in what Jace was telling her. What he’d revealed in return.
“Today didn’t scare me away, Jace.” She shook her head, feeling the truth of it in her heart. “Nothing could scare me away from you.”
Jace grinned a smile so wide he almost looked like a schoolboy. He kissed her, short and sweet, before looking into her eyes once more. “And I would nevereveruse you like that. What I’ve been feeling for you, Amy, is more real than anything I’ve known. I meant what I said in the garage. I love you. And I hope very much to be part of your future.”
The tightness in her chest melted away. And soon she was swimming in the warmth and hope of those tremendous words. She wanted nothing more.
“I love you too, Jace.” She pressed herself up on her toes to kiss him again.
Jace released a quiet groan as Amy sank into him. She sighed in return, allowing the passionate push and pull of his strong lips to lure her further into bliss. She relished the gentle, teasing touch of his velvet-like tongue. And the way he slowed the succession for a sensual, more meaningful exchange, allowing her to appreciate every blissful detail.
Amy did just that, musing, as she had once before, that she could do this for the rest of her life. Only now, that seemed like a very real probability.
