“Does he know I’m up here?” Logan asks.

“Yeah, I told him. I have nothing to hide. I’m a single woman with the freedom to do as I choose.”

Logan tries to smile, but it almost looks like there’s a force tugging his lips into the opposite direction. “Oh no.”

“Let me help you.” I try to lift his dead weight from the bed.

“No, it’s not that,” he says.

“What is it?” I’m still awkwardly trying to pull him off the bed.

“I have to get out of here,” he continues.

“Well, you’re in no condition to drive, and I’m happy to take care of you until you’re better.” I’m not sure I want to guess why he suddenly needs to leave.

“You don’t understand. This isn’t right. I have to go.”

“Logan?” It’s Rick. I’m not stupid. “Please tell me what Rick said to you the other night.”

Logan drops his head into the pillow and stares up at me. “Hannah, I don’t think you want to know.”
