He loved that she didn’t ask what the will said. Too many women from his past would have hung on like a vulture, wanting to know the details and how much money he’d inherited. Not Alexis. She wouldn’t care if he lost his fortune tomorrow. To her, he was simply Trey.

Leaning on the post beside her, he grinned wider. “There is a specific clause that you might be interested in.”

Confusion spread on her face. “Me?”

He nodded. “Dad left ten million dollars to Hope House.”

Her jaw dropped, and she blinked several times. “Did I hear you correctly? Did you say ten million, as in a one followed by seven zeroes?”

“Yes.”

“Why? Not that we can’t use it and aren’t pleased, but wow. I don’t even know what to say.”

He reached out and pulled her to her feet. “He believed in you and the mission of Hope House. Even though he came to understand later in his life, he wanted Hope House provided for.”

Tears glistened in her eyes. “God never fails to amaze me in the transformations he can bring in a person.”

“Amen.”
