Sky let Jared help her to bed.He tucked her back under the blankets before she looked up.
“They have, for the most part.Usually, after I have the severe cramps, my stomach is sensitive like I’ve been punched in the gut.”
“Dammit.What can I do?”
Sky shook her head. She tried to keep her eyes from scanning him.He was standing by the bed in just his gray boxers, so most of his body was on display, and it was impossible to tear her eyes away.
“Nothing, it will eventually go away.Go to work. The worst has passed.”
He sat down beside her hip, facing her.He loved the expression in her eyes when she looked at him.It was the same kind of hunger he felt for her.He guessed the look on his face mirrored hers.
“I don’t think I should leave you.”
“I promise.I am fine.I’m going to rest a bit and then take a shower.”
“What if you need help with that?”
“I won’t.I’ll be good as new in a few hours.”Sky pushed at his hip.“Now go.”
“It’s a fine day when a husband gets kicked out of his own bedroom,” he grumbled playfully.
Sky chuckled.“You know I’m not doing that.I just don’t want you to get behind in your work,” she stated and then grinned.“You have a family to support now,” she said and bit her lip to prevent herself from laughing.
Jared growled and gently pinned her arms to the mattress.“I will always be able to support my family and wife.”
She giggled and nodded.“Good to know.”
Jared lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers.He tilted his head one way and then the other and let his tongue duel with hers for a second before he raised his head.
“We are going to have so much fun when the children start coming.”
Sky raised her hand and cupped the side of his face.“I think we’ll have a lot of fun even before they get here.”
Jared bent close to her face.“I love you.”
Sky sighed, circled his neck with her arms, and shivered at the rasp of emotion in his tone.
“I love you, too.Now and forever.”
“I like the sound of that,” Jared said and grinned.
Epilogue
Jared walked through the back door with his five-year-old over one shoulder.
“Abby, have you seen Sky?”
Abby turned and grinned.“He’s your exact replica, only a little smaller. You both have a bit of the devil in you that gets you into trouble.”
Jared scowled.
“Are we the devil, Daddy?”
Jared looked at his son and grinned.“No, Seth.I think we’re just about perfect.”
Abby rolled her eyes.“Last I knew, she was going to put Adaline down for a nap.”
Jared nodded.“This little guy is going down, too.”
