Chapter Thirteen
Sky lay still and frozenunder the covers.She was trying to control the nerves that raced through her and caused her teeth to chatter.She tensed when the door opened, and Jared walked in, closing the door behind him.She watched as he strode to the bathroom without glancing her way.
She knew she only had a few minutes before he came to bed, so she used the time to take deep breaths and try to settle her heart.Her eyes scanned the room.She had made sure the curtains were closed to keep out the light of dusk that still kept the room lightened.She wanted it as dark as possible.
Sky drew in a startled breath when the bathroom door opened, and Jared walked through with just his boxers on.Her eyes jerked closed.She tried to calm the pounding of her heart at the sight of so much of his skin showing.
“Sky, take off the nightgown.”
Her eyes jerked open and then closed again when he stripped his boxers from his hips and threw them to the floor.
“What ...why?”
Sky tightened her hold on the blanket when the bedside lamp was turned on, and the covers slid from her grasp.“Wait, Jared, can’t you turn off the light?”she asked frantically.
Jared yanked a little harder until the covers were at the bottom of the bed.His hand went instantly to her long nightgown and started to pull it up.
“No, Baby.I want to see you.See your expressions to help me determine if I’m hurting you at any point.”
“But I’ll just tell you,” she stammered.
Jared pulled it over her head and threw it to the floor.A feeling of panic overtook her as she was displayed in front of him.Her hands went to cover herself.

“There are no ‘buts.’I’m your husband, and I have every right to see what’s mine.Now put your hands down by your side.”
Sky moaned her distress but did what she was told.She closed her eyes to prevent herself from seeing his expression of distaste or worse.Her body jerked, but she didn’t make a sound as her panties were pulled down and off her.

“Everything’s going to be okay.”
He said the words so gently it brought tears to her eyes and made her relax against the mattress.
