“A sprain? Aspen! How the hell did you do that?”

“I … fell on it.”

My thoughts wander back to the moment I tried to catch myself, and I realize that I could’ve walked away with a much worse injury if Baylor hadn’t offered to help me. Something about that puzzles me, but there are some things about Baylor Frost that will always remain a mystery to me.

“I’ve seen your clumsy ass trip and fall on hard ground all the time. How the hell did you manage to fall in the snow and sprain your—what is it that you sprained?”

“My wrist. Again, totally fine. In fact, it kind of worked out. This hot medic took care of me. I invited him out for drinks with us tonight.”

“Whoa, his job title isski patrol.” Baylor appears beside me. “Don’t make it sound sexy.”

“Is that Baylor? Let me talk to him,” Henry demands.

“You already talked to him.”

“That was before I had all the information, and I have a feeling you’re still not telling me everything,” Henry says. His instincts are too good. Law school has him scrutinizing everything lately. “Hand him the phone.”

“Don’t tell me what to do.”

“Damn it, Aspen. Stop being difficult.”

“And now, you’re asking me to change everything about myself. Rude,” I say with mock exasperation. I’m glad he can’t see my face.

“What’s that smile for, Pen?”

I look around and immediately spot Henry trudging toward us in his skis. I giggle to myself as I hang up.

“What am I going to do with you?” Henry’s face falls when he lifts my wrist with a delicate hand. “You know anything about this?” He nods at Baylor.

Baylor’s jaw clenches before he speaks. “You seriously think I’d intentionally hurt her?”

“I don’t know. Would you?”

I roll my eyes and pull my hand out of Henry’s grasp. “Ugh, let it go already. I fell. I got hurt. I need some ice. Preferably in a glass with some liquor. Okay?”

The side of Henry’s mouth pulls up as he steps out of his skis. “How about a hot chocolate and a couple of aspirin?” He wraps an arm around my shoulders and leads me inside the chalet.

“Where are Jesse and Luke?” Baylor asks.

Henry tilts his head and raises a brow, answering him without a word. Baylor and I don’t need any further explanation. They found girls.

Baylor tosses his helmet on the table and laughs. “They don’t waste a second, do they?”

Sounds like I won’t be the only one with a date tonight.

After stripping out of my snow gear, I’m left with my university sweatshirt, yoga pants, and boots for my date at Heights. Not to mention, my curls have all been matted down from my helmet. Every time I try to smooth it out, my fingers get stuck in knots. It’s not the effort I usually put into first dates, but I didn’t exactly plan on meeting a hot medic and asking him out. Though I’ve never gone on a date with four other men there, too, so I’m not sure if you can even count this as an official date.

“Hey. You okay?” Jesse asks, giving me a hand as I jump out of the truck.

“Yeah. Why?” I smile.

“You look nervous.”

Baylor slams his door shut and twists his baseball cap around backward. “Of course she’s nervous. She’s got a hot date,” he teases.

“Jealous?”

Baylor scoffs. “I’ll be surprised if he even shows.”
