My body relaxes. "That's not a bad idea. I have Daniel asking around atthe docks, and with Liam, we might figure out if the Bratva is responsible for the warehouse faster."

"Exactly," he says.

"I'll call Liam. You go in and see what you can get out of Mikhail."

"Sounds good, Kieran. How are things going with Mia?"

"My wife is not your concern," I snap.

"That good, huh?” He chuckles.

Instead of answering, I just hang up on him. Pulling up Liam's number, I call him, and he answers right away. "Sir."

"Liam. Tonight, I need you to go to Midnight Blue and discreetly ask around to see if you can find out what the Bratva are up to."

"Got it, boss."

"And Liam when I say discreetly, I mean it."

"I won't let you down."

"Good."

I hang up on him and pocket my phone. By the time I'm done making phone calls, I glance at the clock, it's been a few hourssince I've checked on Mia. Getting up from my chair, I make my way over to the kitchen.

I've never had to take care of anyone except for myself, but if I want her to be happy being mine, I need to do better by her. Opening up the refrigerator, I grab one of the dinners that Imogen left, turning the oven on. I go to find Mia, while I wait for it to heat up.

Reaching the bedroom door, I take the key out of the hidden pocket in my jacket and unlock the door. I pause when I open it, expecting the feisty woman to come running out, but I’m met with nothing but silence.

Walking farther into the room, I glance around, and the only thing I see is a lump of blankets on the bed. I search the room as calmly as possible but a miniscule granule of doubt comes up, telling me that I wasn't on guard enough and she escaped.

No matter how stupid that thought is, it keeps playing in my mind.

Before the anger can boil up inside me, I hear a small snore. My gaze swings toward the adorable sound, I find a lump curled up underneath a mountain of blankets. Approaching the bed that she's taken over, I can't help but give a smirk, because it seems that she's trying to hide even in her sleep, but never really can.

I pull back the covers and find Mia dressed in one of my T-shirts and a pair of boxers. The possessiveness I was feeling toward her just grew tenfold, along with my cock. I've never wanted a woman to look like she belonged to me, but I can't help liking the way my clothes look on Mia.

As softly as possible, I sit down next to her, pulling the hair out of her face as I whisper, "Sweetheart, it's time to wake up and eat."

Mia lets out a groan, rolling away from me. This time I take a different approach. Leaning over, I begin kissing down her neck, whispering against her skin, "Mia. Wake up. I need you."

"Mmm..." Mia groans as she pushes her neck into my lips, and I can feel the goosebumps pop up underneath my lips.

This time I take it as an invitation to kiss further down her body to where her neck meets her collar bone. When I hit that spot, Mia arches her back. I love the way her body responds to me, even in her sleep. Or maybe especially in her sleep, when she's not overthinking everything.

My hands slide down her shoulders, to her chest. I tease her nipples while I continue to kiss around her collar bone. When Mia turns toward me, her eyes flutter as she wakes up, a small smile on her face. Her eyes widen a bit when she finally processes who is making her feel good, but I don't allow her to sit in whatever thoughts are starting to play in her mind.

Kissing her chest one last time, I let her know as I stand up from the bed. "Come on, I'm heating dinner upfor us. You need to eat."

Mia doesn't say anything, she just stares at me, making me smirk at how tough she’s trying to be. That is, until her stomach lets out a growl, making my anger boil up within. I push it down, because I don't want to scare Mia. I'm not mad at her, I'm mad at myself for allowing her to go so long without food.

"Mia. I'm going to go down to the kitchen to finish heating up dinner. I want you to come down to eat," I calmly tell her, before turning on my heel and heading back to the kitchen.

Mia

I watch Kieran in shock as he walks out of the room, not knowing what to think. He leaves the door to the bedroom wide open, and I'm not sure what or how to feel about that. I've been here for who knows how long, maybe like thirty-six to forty-eight hours, and he's locked me up every time, but now he's leaving the door open. What has changed?
