I did. What about you?

Yeah, I slept okay.

That’s good to hear.

Have you thought about ditching your friend to go to the party this weekend?

Idk. Parties aren’t really my scene…

I know and there’s nothing wrong with that, but maybe you can give it a try?

I’m confused. Why do you want me there so bad?

Why do I want her there so bad? That’s a good question. And I don’t really know the answer to it. I just know that I want her there. But I also know that Cadie doesn’t usually do parties or anything that might be too out of the box for her. It’s what makes her more interesting, especially knowing who her best friend is. So I know that she doesn't fold to peer pressure often, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try. And again, I have no clue why.

I can’t tell you…

I don’t really know how else to respond. I mean, I could tell her the truth, that I really want to see her out of her element. But it’s not like I don’t see her outside of school almost every other day of the week, in her home.

A message pops up and I barely have time to read it before it disappears.

ummm hellooooo?

MESSAGE UNSENT

And why is that?

You know I saw that message lol.

But I just can’t. I do just want to see you get out and have fun is all.

Who says I don’t have fun?

You know I’ve known you for like eight years, right Cadence? You don't do anything except for go to school, read, and on rare occasions you hang out with your friend.

I reread my message and realize that my observation might seem offensive, but it’s also the truth. Cadie doesn’t really do much that can be considered as fun. She’s always been fairly disciplined and focused. But it’s her senior year . . .oursenior year. I have a lot to lose and even I plan to have a little fun with it. And really, I want to see as much of her as I can, before we all head off to different directions in life.

Is there something wrong with that? I mean, why do you care what I do with my time?

I have my reasons.

Well, whatever you say Zach. I guess I’ll think about it.

That’s all I can ask for.

You know… if you think Bray will be mad about us texting, he’d definitely be upset if he found out you were trying to get me to go to a party…

She’s not wrong, but at the same time, I feel like Brayden would want her there. And the party is at their house anyway so he’d never have to know that I was the one who convinced her.

He is your brother and it’s his party, not just any party. And like I said, let me handle him. Don’t think about it too much.

You can bring Ryen if you want. It’ll be fun.

You’re right, I guess.

You’ll learn that I’m always right.

Cocky much?
