We ate our breakfast in complete silence. We were listening to our inner thoughts and trying to make our dreams disappear through the howling wind and the rain hammering the windows in violent gusts.

All this time, I couldn’t look into his eyes. They only made me think of how good he made me feel in my sexy dream, which was not good for the state of mind I had at the moment.

Also, every time I closed my eyes to calm down, the pair of dark eyes kept reappearing. They were just making things way worse, because I didn’t know whose they were. If Blake had appeared in the dream, it would’ve made a whole pack of confusion. If Lucas’s shouting hadn’t woken me up, I don’t even know what would’ve been next in my head.

I think you can imagine a pair of blue eyes showing up and going way down…

Iam woken up from my thoughts byBlake himself, who comes to take the half-full plates. Apparently, we weren’t as hungry as it seemed. At least, not after Lucas’s story.

Blake looks at us with a raised eyebrow while collecting our plates and putting them on the cart. I already know that our lost gazes can raise some questions.

“Rough night?” he asks, his question being accompanied by an odd glance.

He looks into my eyes and subtly points down to his suit jacket, which he gently pushes aside so I can see what’s behind it. My eyes go wide, and I barely restrain my scream.

Lucas notices my restlessness and glances at the place I’ve been staring at, immediately becoming tense.

Under Blake’s suit jacket is a dangerous device that looks like a bomb with its digits frozen in time. I panic, not knowing what to do, but Blake’s glare tells me to stay put and not do anything stupid. Clearly, he knows about the ones watching our every move.

He then points to the hand he took my plate with, and a small piece of paper appears before my eyes.

Anmara is next.

That’s all it was saying, but it made me fear for my life.

I feel Lucas’s hand on mine, trying to calm me down and not have a volcanic reaction. I think he also felt I wasn’t in full control of my emotions.

Blake takes the note back to his sleeve, alongside the plate he puts on the cart.

“If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to call me. Also, I suggest you rest and donotforget about lunch,” he says suggestively.

He wants to talk without being heard, to tell us more, so he clearly knows the supervising equipment exists. I’m sure that his every move is also watched, especially because of the device he has attached to his chest.

Lucas thanks him for both of us. I couldn’t get a word out because of the fear inside me.

Blake slowly turns away from us, carefully covering the deadly device on his chest, and gets out of the apartment.

Lucas takes me to the room where we could talk safely. I was about to trip twice on the way there, but I was lucky that Lucas didn’t let me fall on my face. He closes the door behind us and hugs me hard, probably reading my thoughts.

What was my relation to Blake? I’m next to what? To be tortured? To be killed?

I just hope my brain isn’t right. I would hate for it to become my reality. Especially because I don’t know who the hell thatCwas.

?

“That was not the entire dream,” Lucas distracts my attention from staring into space. “Or, at least, not the only one.”

“Is it worse?”

“Not really,” he sighs. “What I’m about to let you know isn’t more dreadful than what I already told you, but it’s horrible for me,” he says, looking far from me, while trying to gather his words. “I think I started to remember some stuff from my past, but I truly don’t know if it’s true or if it’s just a figment of my imagination. It’s something from my childhood, but I think it includes you, too.”

I raise an eyebrow, and he looks me in the eyes. He takes my hands in his, and I can feel the electricity entering my body from his touch, rapidly spreading through my whole body.

“I was about 10 years old,” he says. “I was in a park with a girl with brown eyes who looked just like you. We were laughing, running after each other, and holding hands.”

As he goes forward, my mind opens another universe I’ve been a part of some time ago, remembering the lost moments through his words.
