I was right. Rookewasat The Hollow Point. He found me, and he fucking…what?
What the hell did he do to me?
I drag a hand over my mouth, turn and spit to get rid of the taste of him. And Rooke just watches.
He did what he always does.
Heusedme.
And it was so bad, I drank myself into a blackout to wipe out the memory.
“You fucked me, didn’t you?” I blurt out before I can stop to think.
Rooke turns until he’s looking at me from the corner of his eye. “What are you talking ab?—”
“Friday night!” I yell, rushing him, shoving him so hard we’re both against the granite wall a second later. My hands are on his throat, squeezing. “Did you fuck me in that alley?”
Rooke’s gripping my wrists, chuckling even as I choke him. “I don’t know what you’re?—“
I could kill him.
The thought spears through me, ice cold and stinging.
I could fucking kill him, right here, right now. It would solve so many problems…and introduce many more.
Worth it.
So fucking worth it.
A warm hand squeezes my shoulder. “Kai!”
Her voice is soft, hushed, like anything more would tip me over the edge of sanity.
“Kai, please. Don’t.”
I blink, flicking my head to get my hair out of my face. Rooke’s face is flushed, his hands digging into my wrists. Both our arms shake as he tries to pry me off his throat, as I fight to grip him even tighter.
“We’ll go, okay? We’ll leave right now. Just…please, Kai. Stop.”
If it wasn’t for her, Rooke would have been dead.
But when her hands slide down my arms and she gently peels my fingers off his throat, I let her. And when she hugs my waist and urges me back a step, I retreat.
Rooke’s face is terrifyingly blank as he puts his cock away. He steps around me to pick up his shirt, keeping eye contact like I’m a rabid dog as he pulls it over his head.
“I wondered when that would surface,” he says, so calm I want to puke.
“You—” I choke on the rage, the humiliation, the sick twist of arousal that’sstillpulsing through my veins despite everything. “What did youdoto me?”
He hasn’t moved. Hasn’t blinked. “Does it matter?”
“Does itmatter?” My laugh sounds unhinged, even to me. “You fucking—you?—”
“I what, Kai?” He steps closer, and I hate that I don’t step back because I don’t trust my legs right now. “You think I fucked you in an alley?”
“Didn’t you?” I spit out.
He turns away, chuckling. “It’s a pity you don’t remember, because the way you broke down afterwards was sublime.” He taps his temple. “Rent free in my head forever, boy.”
