“I believe my dramatic exit has been ruined by all these infernal stairs.”

“No, not at all.” Maeve calls out. “It was ruined because your son punched his grandfather in the face and knocked him out cold. No one paid any attention to your dramatic exit.”

I expect Jakob’s voice, instead I am pleasantly surprised to hear Gabriel mutter, “Sorry,Mutti.”

“For punching your grandfather or overshadowing my moment of glory?”

“The latter.” I let the laughter rumble through me, my heart completely unburdened, my mind free.I fully embrace the endless possibilities of our future and while I am excited to see what God has in store for us, I am enjoying the journey so much more.

“Such a good boy.” I glance over my shoulder to my husband. “Paddy, the boys ate all the candy, but I am in the mood for a lollipop…” Paddy’s eyes widen before he pushes our boys out of the way. On the main floor, he scoops me up and throws me over his shoulder.

I laugh, bouncing on his shoulder. I wink at Maeve, giggling when the boys realize what is happening and lose all color. Paddy yells back, smacking his hand against my bottom, “Something has come up, we will not be joining you for supper after all!”
