Sitting next to her, I lean in for a kiss before handing the mug over.
“My parents are here,” I say after she swallows a sip so it doesn’t end up everywhere.
“Holy fuck, why?” Lil asks. Ari blinks at me.
“Well, Mom’s here to try and drag me back home. I think Dad just came along for the ride, but now he’s talking about fixing things between us, so who fuckingknows.”
“Really?” Ari asks, her eyes wide. She knows I miss the relationship he and I had when I was a kid.
“Yeah. We’ll see. I think you girls broke him.”
“Us? How?” She cocks her head to the side and furrows her brow in confusion.
“The whole book fight thing downstairs.”
“You saw that?” Ari laughs.
“You really didn’t see five people sitting around the table while you two ran around like wild animals that just busted out of the fucking zoo?”
They look at each other, then back at me. “No,” they say at the same time. I chuckle and kiss my girl again.
When I return to the tech room, Marco’s holding a letter. And pictures. Pictures of Ariana. My stomach sinks, and my anxiety soars.
“Well, today is just full of fucking bullshit showing up here,” I mutter.
Chapter 62
Again, sorry, Mom
Ariana
Lil and I skip lunch so we don’t have to go downstairs and possibly run into Luca’s parents.
That lasts forty-three minutes before hunger wins out.
I pull up our group chat on my phone.
