My mouth is full of… um, oh yeah, this one is chocolate hazelnut crunch. I chew and swallow. “This is too hard. I picked your ring in about thirty seconds, but I can’t pick a cake for shit, and it’s your fault for being so good at this.”

“I put mine in order. Can I finish this chocolate strawberry piece?” Lil doesn’t wait for an answer before diving in.

Everyone else has at least some kind of order figured out, while mine is a jumble. “I would literally eat any of these cakes any day of the week, baby.”

Ari sighs and points her fork at me. “You’re lucky you’re so damn cute.”

Grinning, I bring another bite of vanilla caramel crunch to my lips and groan. I’m going to have to add a few hours at the gym after this.

Lil wakes us up every night at some point.

“Jesus Christ, I didn’t think it would take more than a couple of nights to get over this,” she huffs as we settle into her bed on Friday night.

“Lil, I’ve slept in your room almost every single night for the last fifteen years. It’s okay if it takes you a while to get used to me not being there.”

“You’re sweet, but I’m determined to move past it because I’ll be damned if I wake you up on your wedding night. One week. I’m giving myself one week, or I’ll just… stop sleeping.”

“Bold of you to assume we’ll be sleeping on our wedding night,” I say, making my girl laugh against my chest.

As we’re drying off after showering Saturday, a thought hits me. “Which room are we going to live in?”

“Fuck, I didn’t even think about that. That’s a good question. Hmm. I guess mine. It’s bigger and has a window seat. Maybe I’ll redecorate it after the wedding. Unless you want me to leave the boy band posters. We didn’t plan our date very well, Hot Stuff. I’m going to spend part of our first week as a married couple on the couch with cramps.” She frowns, so I kiss her because I hate seeing her even a little bit sad.

“Well then, I’ll spend part of our first week as a married couple bringing you chocolate and carbs and taking care of you.”

Her face brightens. “I’m a pretty lucky girl.”

“I’m the lucky one, baby.”

Chapter 60

Maybe don't sit on that stool anymore

Ariana

Lil and I have only left the house once in over a week, and it’s wearing on us.

She flings herself onto the couch like a child. “Ugh. UGH! I just want to go somewhere, anywhere, without all the bullshit. I wish we didn’t have to do the whole security detail stuff. Dragging Luca around was bad enough?—”

“Hey!” Luca interjects. I kiss his cheek.

Lil continues as if he stayed silent. “But now we can’t go anywhere without a bunch of cars and men and guns.”

“I wish there was never a reason for any security detail in the first place.” Luca uses that tone that sounds like a growl and has a direct line to my clit. I try to ignore the shot of desire that pulses through me.

“Do you have a time machine?” I ask, trying to lighten his mood. “A phone booth, perhaps? Or a police box?”

“A DeLorean?” Lil adds.

“A hot tub?” we ask together.

“No,” Luca laughs. “I have none of those.”

“Then, what good are you?” I poke him in the side.

“I’ll show you what good I am,” he says, pulling me onto his lap to nuzzle my neck as I giggle.

“We should introduce Luca toDoctor Whothis week,” Lil says as she grabs the remote.
