“I never meant to hurt you, Alicia. It’s why I had to separate myself from you. It wasn’t to be sneaky; it was because you were my very best friend, and I knew I was still in love with your husband.”

I looked at her as if this bitch had lost her mind.

“Sounds like you were just being a pussy-ass bitch to me. How the fuck you call my cousin your best friend, but fucking her husband behind her back, all because you were still carrying around some bitch-ass, high-school feelings! Like, bitch, is you serious?”

“I love him!” she cried out.

“Nora, baby, don’t.” The way he stood in front of her protectively and wiped her tears sent me into a blind rage. I grabbed the vase of flowers from a nearby table and slammed it right over his head.

“You dirty son-of-a-bitch! How dare you! I gave you everything, you selfish piece of shit!” I screamed.

I then lunged for Nora, but she hurriedly ran off, and Leo grabbed my leg, making me fall before I could grab her.

“She’s pregnant, Ali! Don’t hurt her!” Those words landed heavily on my chest as I yanked my ankle from his hand. His hands felt like acid on my skin after hearing those words.

“You got us fucked up!” I heard Rae yell, and she raised her foot, stomping on his knee. I sprang to my feet, and together, Rae and I stomped his ass out. Nora had to have gone to get security because, before I knew it, we were being escorted out of the building. They made us wait outside while they grabbed our things, then told us we were banned for a year.

I didn’t care about any of that shit. My heart felt broken all over again as tears fell from my eyes. Raeley helped me to mycar, then held me tightly. I was really trying to enjoy my spa day with my cousin, but I ended up leaving unhappy and wanting to kill the man who lied to and hurt me.

“I’m going to send you those pictures of them together. It will help your case against him on Monday. I don’t care what you just saw in there, Ali, but pick your head up. Those motherfuckas don’t deserve your tears. I need you to remember that you’re a bad-ass bitch and a bad-ass mom.

“Those two conehead bitches ain’t worth your tears, baby. You got that fine-ass nigga at your house, taking care of your kids, and trying to lick your bootyhole. Fuck them dirty hos. I hope he gets burned in one of those fires, and her ass gets shot by one of those niggas she trying to lock up. Ugly-ass bitches.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle through my tears. If nothing else, I knew my family loved me and would ride down on anyone who disrespected me.

“Thank you, Rae. I don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t here with me.”

“You probably wouldn’t have said anything, because you don’t know how to set shit off. You’re an angel, and your family are the devils. We ain’t got good sense when a motherfucka try us or our people, but you do.”

“Yeah, . . . sometimes I wish I was more like y’all. Then maybe this wouldn’t hurt so much.”

“Nah, Auntie Nika and Uncle Noah knew what they were doing when they made you. You were their peace in the middle of their chaos.”

I smiled and hugged her again. “I love you, Rae. Thank you for helping me stomp his ass out.”

“I love you more, Cousin. Always. Now go home and sit on that man’s face.”

I laughed. “Bye, Rae!” I got inside my car, making haste with putting my clothes back on, then drove out of the parking lot.

When I pulledup to the house an hour later, I could see the lights were out except for in the living room. I was sure the kids were in bed and resting, since we were due in church tomorrow. I sat in the car for another thirty minutes, trying to get my mind right after confirming that my husband had indeed run off with my best friend.

I told that bitch everything except for how big his dick was, and the whole time, she already knew. They had to have been messing around since I had Carlee. That was around the time I felt the disconnect. Having to sit here and pretend as if I wasn’t hurt by it was harder than I thought. But I was going to do it.

I wouldn’t allow my kids to see me this way. I let out a heavy sigh and got out of the car. I used the code to let myself in and immediately noticed Basil sitting on the couch with glasses on and papers scattered on the table.

He looked up at me and smiled before taking off his reading glasses and coming over to me. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.

“I didn’t expect you back so soon. The gang fell out right after dinner because I tired them out.” He chuckled. “Did you enjoy your spa day with your cousin?”

I nodded my head, even though it ended in disaster. He took my chin between his fingers and lifted my head to meet his eyes. “You good?”

I didn’t respond as I slammed my lips into his. I knew I caught him off guard because it only took three seconds for him to slide his tongue into my mouth. We kissed feverishly as he grabbed two handfuls of my ass and lifted me. My legsimmediately wrapped around his waist, and my hips gyrated against his pelvis.

“That’s how you coming?” he asked in a husky tone.

“Take me to my room,” I told him, sucking on his neck.

“You sure? Once I get you up there, you ain’t coming back down for a while,” he warned.
