But, I swear to God, I feel like someone’s upstairs in the attic, watching me leave.
MURDER HOUSE STRIKES AGAIN:
BODY DISCOVERED IN BLACK WOOD HOUSE
June 30, 12:35 p.m.
ABC News, Melbourne
A body has been found under suspicious circumstances at the infamous Black Wood House. The Victorian Gothic was the site of one of the most publicized murders in 1980, when its original owner, Bill Campbell, murdered his wife and attempted to murder his young daughter.
But the neighborhood has been rocked by news of a second tragedy today.
Officers arrived in Beacon, 45minutes southeast of Melbourne, at 11:40 this morning. A body was found at Black Wood House shortly after. Police are treating the death as suspicious and have declared it a crime scene.
A source said, “I can’t believe this is happening again. There’s something really wrong with that house.”
Fans of true crime will know that bestselling self-help author Sarah Slade bought the house two months ago. Police have refused to confirm the identity of the body.
But friends admit Slade and her husband had been having difficulties lately.
“Ever since they bought that damn house, Sarah’s been acting…strange,” one friend said.
Another friend commented, “She was becoming paranoid. She thought she was being followed. And there was that scary business with her cat.”
Alarmingly, Slade told friends that she believed her cat was being poisoned.
“He was getting sicker and sicker, and I think she accused one of the neighbors of poisoning him,” said a source. “The neighbors were angry that she and Joe bought the house. It’s pretty well known that nobody wanted them there.”
None of the neighbors have responded for comment.

CHILLING VOICEMAIL DISCOVERED

Oh. My. God.
You might remember that I interviewed Sarah Slade just before she moved into Black Wood House. If you’ve been watching the news, you’ll know that a body was discovered there today. I just reached out to Tim Holmes, colleague of Sarah Slade at Mercy Community…. And, ladies and gentlemen, have I got news for you: Shit just got WEIRDER!
Sarah left Tim a chilling voicemail at 2:34 Saturday morning, four days before the body was found at Black Wood House.
“I didn’t listen to her message,” Tim said. “We’re not that close, so I figured it was a butt-dial or something. She never really calls me.”
But Sarah did. Three times in a row.
“I only played her voicemail this morning, and I called the police straightaway,” he said. “If the body they found was hers, I’ll never forgive myself.”
He dials his voicemail.
At first there’s nothing but heavy silence. Then static for ten seconds. Tim holds the phone up to his ear. “Can you hear that?” he asks before holding his breath again. “In the background…it sounds like someone’s sobbing.”
Then out of nowhere the static clears.
