His spare hand glides across my hips, setting each inch of skin on fire. The tension in my body is like a tight string that’s on the cusp of snapping as he savours me.

“What do you need, Rosie? Instruct me.”

There’s no power trip with Niki. I rarely feel in control of my world, but I’ve brought this man to his knees.

“Kiss me,” I beg between ragged breaths. His corded muscles pulse.

As his lips embrace mine, his tongue pressing between the seam of my mouth, my back arches. My body shakes and his fingers thrust deeper. I tilt my hips to feel more. I’m on the edge, teetering. He bites my lip and sends me over.

My breath is out of control. My whole body shakes as he holds me close, keeping me safe.

“You’re so fucking sexy,” he growls. “I didn’t expect any of this today.”

He’s not regretful, but as his words combine with myfading orgasm, clarity slaps me across the face. I pushed every boundary I vowed not to cross. I said I’d put this job and being a mother first and then I rode my boss’ fingers on his bathroom floor.

Panic stifles me as I ease away.

“Did you enjoy it? Did I go too far?” he says sensing my change.

I shake my head. “I loved it, but…”

He stares at me, and I panic he’ll decipher the anxiety I’m hiding.

He sits back on his haunches. “I’m sorry. I’m your boss. I shouldn’t have crossed the line like that. You said before you left that what scared you was doing the right thing for your daughter… I shouldn’t have done anything. I’m so sorry.”

It’s not a rejection because he’s not like that. So why does it feel like one? Because he knows like I do that I’ve risked my job and done precisely what I shouldn’t have.

“We both crossed the line. Let’s pretend it never happened,” I say attempting to stand on wobbly legs.

But it did. I came with Niki’s fingers inside me and now I want more. Now I know how it can be, I have to get away from him before I beg to ride him.

I drag my top off the floor.

“Are you okay?” He stands, holding out his hand.

But I can’t let him touch me because I can’t resist him.

“Yes, but I’ve got to go. I need to get ready for my night out.”

“Of course.” He grabs one of the towels and wraps it around his waist. That’s sensible. His magical dick will have me following him around his house. “I hope you have the best time. You deserve a fun night.”

I force a smile. “Yeah. It should be great. Watch out, men, here I come.”

I don’t know what I’m saying. I’m so desperate to reducethe anxiety of the situation and return to how we were a couple of hours ago.

He winces as I turn.

I’m going to drink tonight and forget I came on my boss’ fingers and risked my future.

CHAPTER 43

Niki

Graham turns in circles on the fleece blanket as he tries to find the perfect spot for snoozing on the sofa.

I coo to him as he gives up on the blanket and drops to my lap to rest his head on my leg while rewarding me with a blast of his chicken treat breath.

Rosie was going out at seven. It’s now ten o’clock.
