Itold you he wouldn’t show. Spineless bastard.” I shake my head while we all sit around the table waiting for Greaser.
“Let's just give him another fifteen minutes; he could be stuck at the garage,” Rocco suggests, lighting himself another cigarette.
“You could get us started: tell us why we’re all here?” Sinner rests back in his chair and kicks his feet up to rest on the table.
“Nah, we all need to be here for this.” Wrath still looks seething.
“Well, as long as we’re waiting, I’m getting myself a drink.” Ruckus gets up from the table and heads to the door.
“I need a coffee.” I get up and follow him, despite all the excitement; I can feel myself lagging. Mia was up almost every two hours last night, and although Alicia told me to go get some sleep in the other room, I was never gonna leave her to deal with her alone. It sounds crazy, but I don’t wanna miss out on anything she does. They say babies don’t smile until they’re six weeks old, but I swear she shot me one while I was changing her diaper last night.
“That was a quick meeting.” Freya smiles at Ruckus as he heads for the bar.
“It ain’t started yet, darlin’, we’re waitin’ on Greaser.
“You’ll be waiting a long time.” Anita laughs.
“What do you mean by that?” I ask, sensing something’s not right.
“I spoke to Iris this morning. She came here specially to see me so she could say goodbye. She and Greaser are moving back to Bakersfield.” She looks surprised that I don’t already know.
“What?” Ruck looks as shocked as I am.
“It was all very last-minute. Iris wasn’t all that happy about it bu–”
“Wrath!” I call out, abandoning any idea of having a coffee.
“He can’t have gone far; his bike’s still here,” Wrath points out as we park up in the garage parking lot.
Wrath slams his fist at the steel garage door. “Grease open up!” he yells, but gets no answer.
“He’s bailed, his car ain’t here. That fucker knew we’re on to him and he’s run scared.” I pick up a hubcap from the pile by the door and fling it across the yard in a temper.
“Vike, calm down, we don’t know if any of this is fact yet. I need to speak to the boy who got arrested. Find out if Greaser was really choppin’ cars here.
“Of course, he fuckin’ was. Raze found out, he confronted him, and like a pussy, he shot him in the back of the head.
“Wait, you think Greaser killed Raze?” Sinner shakes his head and laughs.
“Nobody is accusing anyone of anything, right now.” Wrath gives me a warning look.
“Well, you can wipe Greaser off your suspect list if Raze got killed the night he went missing,” Sinner explains.
“How can you be so fuckin’ sure?” I check.
“Well, for a start, I was watchin’ him bury the bone into Trinity for most of the night.” Sinner laughs some more, winding me the fuck up.
“Wait, what? That was the night before he was supposed to marry Alicia." None of that makes any sense.
“You watched?” Dev shakes his head in disgust.
“It gets boring around here, and if people ain’t gonna close their blinds, I’m gonna take advantage of a show.”
“You're fuckin’ sick.” Ruckus shakes his head.
“Hey, before your old lady strung up your balls, you’d have done exactly the same. Gotta be said though, I don’t blame you for being a one woman man with that one; I’ve seen the way she sucks yo–”
“You’ve watched my old lady and me?” Ruck grabs him by the front of his cut.
