“They have Dom and Ax,” he said. “You have someone watching the boutique, right?”

“Yes.” According to the security at the boutique, Bello hadn’t been there. It had been the usual clients for a couple of weeks. I had no reason to believe the boutique wasn’t secure. “Ricardo will be with them too.”

“I guess that’s something.”

“He’s excellent at what he does,” I reminded him. “He would never let anything happened to Lissia.”

“You’re right, but I still blame him for what happened with Collins. If Ricardo didn’t let Lissia manipulate him, none of that would have happened.”

“Sounds like Lissia is to blame too.”

“That’s why Dom is her guard, He doesn’t fall for her shit.”

I loved my sister-in-law, but I was grateful that Sable didn’t find trouble or give me stress when it came to her security.

“Should we go?” I asked. “The sooner we get this meeting done, the sooner we can get back to eliminating Medina.”

As we walked to the foyer, I tried to get Sable out of my head. I should have asked her what she wanted to talk about, but I wanted to go into this meeting with a clear head. I would be home early enough and we could spend the evening alone.

If she still wasn’t feeling well, I could take care of her. She seemed to enjoy the warm bath. I could join her this time. The tub was big enough.

Marchello glanced out of the large windows overlooking the front of the property.

“Dad’s still on a call.” He motioned to the porch. “It’s too fucking cold to be out there. I’ll wait here until he’s finished. I’m not going to freeze my balls off.”

“Well, you’ve been in Miami and Puerto Rico, so I guess this shitty New Jersey weather does kind of suck for you.”

“They’re calling for more freezing rain today.” He retrieved his overcoat from the foyer closet. “I’m over this.”

“You’re not considering moving, are you?”

“Are you and Dad going to come with me?”

“He’ll never leave the city.” I buttoned my suit coat. “While we’re waiting, I want to run something by you.”

I had been thinking about this particular message that I needed to send, and I wanted to get Chello’s take on it.

“What is it?”

“You might understand where I’m coming from with this because you were in a similar situation.” I leaned against the banister. “Sable’s been struggling since the assault inflicted by Bello. She talked about it a little, but I know it’s on her mind.”

“Look,” he said. “I know it’s fucked up that you can’t go after that piece of shit yet, but I promise once Medina is incapacitated, we’ll make Bello suffer.”

“I know.” I hated not being able to kill Bello for hurting Sable, but I had to be patient. His time would come, but for now, there was someone else I could go after. “There is something else I want done.”

“Anything.”

Of course he would say that. He always had my back and never asked me any questions. That was how we were raised. We would always be there for one another.

“After Bello hit Sable, she remembered things from her childhood she tried to suppress.”

“Abuse?”

I nodded calmly, but my insides filled with a rage that spiraled and threatened to break free and wreak havoc on anyone in my path.

“What do you want to do about it?” he asked.

“It was her father.”
