His lips fall to mine as we kiss the most romantic kiss under the fireworks, and my chest warms with how perfect this feels.

Rachel looks so happy as she dances with the girls, but I swear to God, if Travis, Merrick, and Tyler’s hockey buddies don’t stop staring at my girl, there’s going to be issues.

It’s almost one in the morning, and the girls are showing no signs of slowing down, drinks in hand, swaying in time with the music…they are living their best lives.

“Is that bothering you?” I ask Christian as I point to the girls and the group of guys watching them.

“Nah, they can look, but they will never have, but…” he shrugs. “They know my girl is taken.”

“What about Dani?” I ask him.

He exhales, “She isn’t paying them attention; she is just having fun with the girls. The guys might be looking, but they aren’t touching, so for now, I’m cool. Plus, let’s face it, those guys were us last year.”

“I don’t like it; they don’t know Rachel. They don’t know I’m with her and I hate them looking. You’re fine because you are in a committed relationship. I’m still in the beginning phase, so nothing is off limits.”

Christian looks at me, shooting me a weird look. “Do you want to be in a committed relationship?”

I shrug, unsure how to answer that question because I really don’t know. All I know right now is that any guy looking at her is irritating me.

“The best way to stop them looking is to go dance with her,” he suggests in almost a dare.

I drag my eyes off the hockey team and look to my best friend. He takes a drink of his scotch as I stand there with nothing. Christian is off the hook with Coach, he can drink away, the rest of the team have been banished from drinking after ten with our upcoming game.

“Oh look, Lucas just got the memo.” Christian points to the dance floor. “He’s dancing with Dani; looks like I’m off the hook.”

I look and watch Lucas wrap Dani in a hug, holding her close as they sway to the music. Which means now more eyes are on Rachel, fuck.

“Fuck this, I’m going in.”

“Go mark your territory,” he says, saluting his glass of scotch in the air.

I make my way to the dance floor. Merrick dances not far from the girls with Mitch, Lewis, and half the Raptors cheerleaders. In the far corner, I spot Seth—his body pressed against a brunette. Her arms loop around his neck as his hands slide slowly down her back. I scan the room some more and I have no fucking idea where Walsh went. I grab Rachel around the waist, taking her in surprise but leaving Letti and Shelby with an amused smile on their faces. “You are still not wearing a bra, and guys are looking at you. So unless you want me breaking faces, you’re gonna have to dance with me, sweetheart, and press those tits up against my chest so everyone here knows they are mine.”

She turns to look at me. She is tipsy, and I already know she is completely mine with the look she gives me. “Fine by me, I don’t want anyone else. I was simply dancing with the girls.”

“But guys were looking at you and I didn’t like it.”

“Poor baby, I thought I rode your cock hard enough that you wouldn’t have these doubts.”

“Well, maybe I need you to ride it harder.”

“Done, but not during my girl time!”

“You’re leaving me for the girls?”

“No, I’m simply saying that I’m spending time with them, and if I wasn’t, I would be with you and no one else. If guys are looking at me, I’m completely unaware and you have nothing to worry about because I’m just either having fun with them or you.”

“Fine,” I grumble, pulling her into a hug as our bodies sway to the music. “Do you think I have marked my territory long enough for them not to look at you so I can relax?”

“I guess we will never know until you head back to Christian. He seems to be watching you with a Cheshire grin on his face.”

Fucker.
