“Yeah, my dad took it in the other day, got it all fixed up.”
“That’s good,” he notices all the students entering the rooms around us. “Guess you have to go?”
“Yeah,” I nod. “Was there something wrong?” I build up the courage to ask him.
“No,” he says quickly, shaking his head. He stands taller, clearing his throat. “I actually just wanted to ask you if you want to go on a date with me this weekend?” he says with his usual cocky confidence, yet I sense a hint of nervousness. “It occurred to me the other day that we actually haven’t had a proper date. I was going to text you, but Shelby said that was ‘bogan’, and I needed to ask you in person…so, here I am, and yes, I had to google the word bogan.”
“Oh,” I say in surprise as relief washes over me. “I would love that.”
“Great,” he smiles, chewing his gum and highlighting that chiseled, diamond-cut jaw. “I thought maybe this Friday, but if you want to do any other day, that is fine as I’ll make it work. Whatever is easiest for you with Sam and everything?”
So sweet! Okay, heart, we have been through a lot, don’t break on me now.
“I’ll just check with my parents and let you what night would be best?”
The doors start to shut around us, and the last thing I want to do right now is head into class. The hallway is empty as Randy steps into me, pushing me gently against the wall.
His head checks one way, then the other, making sure we are alone. “Perfect,” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to my lips and sending a shiver up my spine.
My hands rake up his chest and wrap around his neck. My skin heats as I feel his fingers drag over my bare skin, around my waist, and slide down to my lower back. His kiss is deep, passionate, and I can still taste the mint in his kiss.
The sound of someone loudly clearing their throat draws our attention and sends my head snapping back to reality and into the wall behind me. “Ouch,” I half laugh, half cringe as I grab at the back of my head.
Randy sneaks out a laugh. “Are you okay?” he quickly asks, looking toward my professor.
“Yes,” I reply, looking at the displeasure on my professor’s face.
“Are you coming to class, Ms. Summers?”
“Yes, sorry,” I say.
I don’t spare Randy a glance as I cower, hurrying into my class and toward the back of the room. I feel people looking at me, but I don’t take my eyes off my feet till I’m in my seat, finally releasing a breath.
PING PINGmy phone loudly alerts me just as my professor is about to start talking. People turn to look, and I catch my professor’s frown as I send him an apologetic smile. I find my phone and instantly turn it to silent.
“Are we ready now, Ms. Summers?”
“Yes, sorry,” I say again giving him a remorseful look.
Once he starts into his lecture and his face turns to the board, I sneak a glance at my phone.
Randy: I’m sorry about ur head! If u want, I can fuck u doggy style (because apparently, thats how I recognize half the women on this campus). My hand gently wrapped around ur throat as I pepper the back of ur head with kisses. Would that make u feel better? xx
I take in a sharp breath, my mind racing back to when I questioned him on how he recognized the women on campus. The memory is short lived as I imagine Randy’s hand around my throat as he slides into me from behind. My whole body seems to respond to that message as my laptop falls from my fingertips. With a thud it hits the ground and has the class, and my professor, looking at me,again.
Oh, my fucking God!
Stupid lecture halls with no carpet has the bang echoing loudly around the room. I have to get out of here. I drop to the floor, picking up my laptop and grabbing my bag. I stand up as the whole class watches me as I rush back down the stairs.
“I’m sorry,” I say to my professor as I near the front of the room and turn toward the door and leave. I feel the relief washing over me as soon as I exit the room, leaving the quiet chuckles of laughter behind me.
“Fuck,” I mumble to myself as I take in a few deep breaths. I shake my head at the number of times I havehumiliated myself in the last two minutes. I send Molly a quick message since I know she will wait for me after class.
Me: Everything is good, but I can’t meet you after class x
Molly: No worries x
I bring up Randy’s message and it instantly makes me smile. I forget about everything that just happened, and the fact I never want to show my face in that class again. I jog for the door and notice the rain has stopped as I make my way outside, thankful because Molly has the umbrella.
