“Just so you know, I was handling it fine before you barged into the ladies’ restroom.”
“I have no doubt you could have handled the situation,” he laughs softly. “It’s in my DNA, though, to protect you. I won’t ever be able to just sit back and watch someone disrespect you.”
“I suppose I could live with having my own knight in shining armor at my disposal,” I murmur, sliding my hands up his tuxedo jacket and wrapping my arms around his neck.
“More like a dragon at your disposal, ready to tear into anybody at a moment’s notice,” he says before grinning wickedly. “We both know I’m no knight.”
“I prefer my dragon over a knight any day,” I grin.
“That’s my girl,” he murmurs, kissing me softly before leading us back to the table. When we return, my brothers are sipping their drinks with their eyes on the dance floor like a pack of guard dogs ready to attack at any moment. “I’m not the only dragon,” he chuckles.
“No, you’re not,” I laugh, shaking my head. “Well, I guess you are with the pack. I’m going to join the girls on the dance floor.”
Reaching over, I finish the rest of my white wine before kissing him soundly on the cheek.
“Enjoy the show, dragon, because I’ve got moves that will bring you to your knees,” I whisper in his ear as his body stiffens under my hand.
Grinning cheekily, I turn and walk away, feeling his eyes on me every step of the way. In true dragon form, I feel the heat pierce my skin, feeling like a thousand promises of what’s to come later when he gets me alone, and I look forward to every single one of them.
THIRTY-EIGHT
KNOX
Little does she know,I’ve watched her dance several times before while I sat there hard as fuck, getting grumpier by the minute because I wanted something I couldn’t touch.
But this time…
This time she’s mine, and every sway of her hips or fuck-me eyes she throws my way is unlike any foreplay I’ve ever known. Hell, I never even did foreplay before her, but it adds a whole new level of excitement in me as I sip my bourbon and watch those sexy curves move to the beat.
The dragon in me wants to throw her over my shoulder and take her to the nearest secluded area to tame this beast inside.
But the devil within…
He wants to play this little edging game and see how far we can last before one of us gives in to the temptation that is wrapped around us so tight that it’s like a grenade without a pin just waiting to explode at the slightest touch.
“I don’t know how I missed it all these years,” Miles chuckles, shaking his head at me.
“Missed what?” I ask, pulling my eyes from my dessert on the dance floor.
“How infatuated you are with my sister. It’s written all over your face,” he muses.
“That’s because your sister bulldozed my walls down like a fucking demolition wrecking ball. I can’t hide anything from her anymore,” I chuckle.
“That’s Savi for you,” he laughs. “She’s always had a way of getting what she wants. Hell, I still have the scar from that damn feral cat she talked me into keeping in my room for the night.”
“I’m talking to one every day when I come home. I don’t know who the hell I am anymore,” I mutter.
“Welcome to the club,” Travis laughs, joining in on the conversation. “Where your balls and heart no longer belong to you.”
“Ain’t that the truth,” Miles grins. “Olivia can gladly have them as long as I get her.” He watches his fiancé on the dance floor, and there’s no doubt in his eyes that he means it.
I follow his gaze and hone in on Savi. Her eyes lock on mine, and a sly smile appears on those lips that I tasted just a little while ago. Miles is right on this one. As long as I get her, I’ll gladly hand over every piece of me.
“I can walk,”she giggles, as I swoop her up in my arms and carry her to the limo that’s waiting outside.
“I’m not taking the chance in these heels that you won’t sprain something. Besides, if I remember correctly, this is justlike old times,” I grin, helping her into the limo and sliding in behind her.
“You mean at my brother’s bar opening when you rudely picked me up and shoved me into the Uber?”
