“Just let me have this one Faith, at least for today. And I’ll try not to drive you crazy all the time.”
“You can try all you want but you know you won’t be happy unless I’m on bed rest.”
Winking at me, we walk out the front door and to Mason’s truck where he helps me get in. Walking around the front I watch how tight his ass looks in his jeans, which makes me squirm in my seat. He gives me a knowing look when he gets in and starts the truck. Sticking my tongue out at him like I’m five, he pulls out the driveway and heads to the cafe. “Hey, don’t forget we have that double date with your sister and Lucas. We’re all going to Mario’s tonight. Skylar and Isabella are going to close up for us so we can meet up at five tonight. Do you think you’ll be done by then?”
“I’ll be there on time. I know you're looking forward to this because it’s all you and my sister have been talking about. She even texted me and told me not to be late.”
“Well, you can’t piss off the pregnant women Mason, especially when it comes to Mario’s. The lasagna is calling my name.”
We pull into the parking lot of the cafe. “Wait for me to get your door.”
Walking around the front, he comes and opens my door to help me down. He gives me a kiss that makes my toes curl and turns me on so that my panties are now wet. I moan into his mouth and he slowly pulls back with a heated look into his eyes. “A promise for later Angel. I love you and I’ll see you after work.”
“Love you too,” I say as I walk to the front door. Mason calls my name once I have the door open, just as I’m about to go in. Turning around, I arch my eyebrow wondering what he wants to say. The shithead only says one word.
“Decaf” and walks away laughing knowing that this is going to be hard for me. He better wait because I’m gonna get him back for that. If I have to suffer drinking decaf now, so will he. I turn around and almost run right into the girls. They heard what Mason had said and have knowing smiles on their faces. I look at Rhylie, who has tears in her eyes. She knew I was late getting my period because I called her having a mini freak out. I look each of the girls in the eyes and say “ Do we have any decaf made?” They all start jumping up and down and take turns giving me hugs. We’re all crying. Pulling back, I wipe my tears. Rhylie is clapping her hands like an overzealous seal screaming.
“I'm going to be an Aunty. I'm so happy for you guys. We can now be miserable and drink decaf together.”
Walking behind the counter, I go about making a coffee for myself and ask Rhylie “Hey can I have the number to your OBGYN. I need to make an appointment to go see her. I'm hoping I can get an early appointment either this week or next.”
“Yeah, I have the card on my desk.” Just then, Damon walks in and has eyes for only Skylar. She blushes scarlet red and she looks down at the floor, too shy to meet his eyes.“So I hear congratulations are in order. Mason called us and told us. I'm happy for you guys.”
“Thank you, Damon. Did you guys need a coffee order?”
“No, we're good, I just wanted to come and congratulate you. I'll see you girls later.” He walks away and at the last minute, turns around and looks at Skylar. “Sky, don't forget that I'm driving you home after work.” winking at her he walks out the door. As one we all turn to Skylar with smiles on our faces.
“Well well, girl you're holding out on us,” Isabella says
She's got the deer in the headlights look going on and she sputters out, “It's nothing. He's just driving me home. He saw me walking to work and gave me a ride the rest of the way in. He just feels sorry for me, that's all. I told him it was okay but he wouldn't hear any of it.”
I think after tonight she's going to get a clue to how far gone Damon is for her.
“Why are you guys looking at me like that?” Skylar asks.
“Nothing sweetie, nothing at all. Well, I'm going to the back to call the doctor and get some paperwork done.” Walking in the back all I smell is Isabella’s baked goods. Holy shit, they smell amazing. Snagging a warm chocolate chip cookie, I moan. “These are amazing Isabella. I'm gonna have to have you keep me in stock of these. You should enter your stuff for the Fall Fair. You’d win hands down.” She laughs as if I’m joking about keeping me in stock but she has no idea. I have a feeling I'm going to be eating nothing but her cookies during this pregnancy.
“I'll make you a batch so you can take it home tonight. Anytime you want something you let me know and I'll make it for you. Do you really think I should enter? That it's good enough?”
“ Hell ya, girl don’t sell yourself short. Everyone that comes in praises your baked goods. We even had a few people ask if you would be willing to do cakes and cupcakes for parties. It's something for you to think about. If it's something you want to look into then go for it. You could even use the kitchen in here for it. Both Ry and I talked about it.”
“I don't know what to say. Thank you guys, I'll think about it for sure.”
“No problem, you’re family and we stick together. Whatever you need, let us know.” Walking back to the office, I sit in my chair and place my hands on my stomach as I take it all in. I still can't believe I'm pregnant. All I ever wanted in life is finally coming true. I just wish mom was still here, but I know she's looking down on me and smiling. “Love you to the moon and back Mom.”
Faith
We’re sitting at the table at Mario’s and we all just finished eating. I don't think I've laughed so much as I did tonight. This is just what I needed. I laughed, cried, and ate way too much but now I'm looking at the dessert menu wondering if I can stuff something else in me. Mario’s has a chocolate mousse cake to die for. Screw it, I'm going to order it. “Are you guys going to order anything for dessert? I think I’m going to get the chocolate mousse cake.”
“Didn't Isabella give you a tin of cookies before you left?”
Raising my eyebrow at the man I love, I think he has a death wish. He should know better than to question me about my love of chocolate, which he has known since I was a kid. “Yes and that's a problem because?” Mason’s looking at me like I have two heads right now.
“I just figured that you wouldn’t want dessert with the cookies you already have. Plus with all the ones you ate while at work. Maybe that’s something we should ask the doctor about because all that sugar can’t be good for the baby.”
“I think Mom dropped you on your head as a baby because seriously Mason you can’t be that dumb. You know her love of chocolate and she already had to switch to decaf. Let the girl live.” Rhylie is giving her brother a disgusted look like she can’t believe she’s even related to him at the moment. Even Lucas is shaking his head at him.
“Oh come on, I'm only trying to look out for her health. Help me out, Lucas. You know I’m right.”
