“Hey Angel, how was girls’ day?”

“Hi, It was good, I had a lot of fun.”

“You about ready to head home we can order in and watch a movie?”

Nodding my head, he helps me up off the couch and we head for the door with the girls behind me. Hugging each one, I said goodbye. “I’ll see you girls tomorrow, love you guys.”

“See ya, and love you too” is thrown out from the other girls.

Getting into Mason's truck, I lean my head back and close my eyes. “Tired Faith?”

“No I’m okay, it was a good day. How are the guys doing? How’s Katya?”

“She was so excited opening up her gifts. I got a few pictures for you on my phone. I'll send them over when we get home. The guys are good. Victor is gonna stop by with Katya soon to talk to Isabella. Hopefully, that works out for him because he needs someone to help him. And Damon kept grumbling about too many dicks looking at Skylar when he goes in the cafe, so you know how that’s going to play out soon.”

“He needs to be gentle with her. She's not had it easy. She was led to believe that she’s unworthy of anyone and never told she was pretty in her life. She was shocked when I called her gorgeous today. It's really sad how others put people down.”

“Who the fuck told her that shit?” Mason’s mad and I know once Damon hears this he’s going to want to go after those responsible for telling her this.

“I’m not sure but I think it was her family since she did tell us before when Rhylie hired her that she left home for a fresh start. I just don’t get how people can be so cruel like that.” Mason lifts my hand and kisses the back of it.

“I don’t know but she’s got a family with us now and we take care of our own. Plus Damon won’t let anyone treat her that way so we don’t have anything to worry about.”

“You're right. I just worry about her because she’s such a sweetheart but you can see in her eyes she’s been hurt deeply.”

“Everything will work itself out. Just wait and see. No point in stressing about it. What do you feel like having for dinner?”

“Anything is fine with me as long as it’s not pizza because we had that at Ry’s house.” We finally pull into the driveway after being stuck in traffic. It seems like everyone was on the road today. Mason walks around the front to help me down. Walking up the steps, I notice dead flowers left by the front door. Mason's whole body goes solid and he pulls me behind him as if someone is going to pop out any minute. There’s a note attached to them saying “BITCH” and nothing else.

“Son of a bitch. Let me get you back into the truck while I have a look around just to make sure nothing else is left.”

Walking me faster towards the truck, he helps me inside. “I’ll be right back. Keep the doors locked.”

I watch him walk away but not before I see him pull his gun out, which he keeps on him at all times. My heart is in my throat right now. I just don’t understand. First, it was my house and now there are dead flowers here. Someone must be watching me to know I’m staying here now. I don’t know what I ever did to someone for them to hate me this much. After what seems like hours but I know it’s only minutes, Mason walks over and opens the door, helping me down.

“Come on Angel let’s get you inside. I didn’t find anything else but I did bag the flowers and note and I have someone picking it up now. I don’t want you to worry about this. We'll catch this person and I won’t let anything happen to you.”

Blowing out a rough breath, I look up at Mason and I know he means what he says but he can’t be with me 24/7. “I know you won’t Mason. Let’s just go inside. I'm tired, hungry, and just want to change and forget any of that happened.” Walking into the house, I kicked off my shoes and head for our bedroom. I change into shorts and another one of Mason's shirts. I hope Mason’s right and they can catch this person soon before it escalates into something more. I just don’t know how much more I can take.

Mason

I watch Faith walk up the stairs with a dejected look on her face and that just pisses me off. I need to find this fucker who thinks they can do this to her and fast. I made her a promise and it’s one I intend to keep. If someone thinks they can threaten her in any way and I won’t put them down, being a cop, be damned. She’s mine and I will always protect what’s mine. Hearing the doorbell ring, I walk over thinking it’s the food I ordered but it’s someone from the station coming to pick up the flowers and note. Hopefully, we get something off of this since we got fuck all in the house. We ruled out all the prints who had been in the house and came up with nothing. “Hey, Jason. They are already expecting this so hopefully, they can process this quickly. They shouldn’t know she’s staying here unless they have been following her.” I hand over the bag to Jason.

“I’ll tell them to put a rush on this for you. Hopefully, by the end of the week, we can have this person behind bars. I’ll see you later man.”

“Thanks, Man.” I watch him walk towards his squad car and pull away. Before I close the door, the food delivery car pulls in with our food. I grab the bags the kid hands me and hand him a tip. “Thank you and have a good night.”

Walking back inside, I head for the living room and start taking out the containers. I got bacon cheeseburgers and cheese fries, which I know she loves. She eats at this place all the time with my sister. Walking towards the kitchen to grab some drinks, I see Faith walk down the stairs looking fresh and makeup-free. Fuck, she always takes my breath away anytime I look at her.

“Something smells good and greasy, what did you end up ordering?”

“I ordered burgers from the diner that you love so much. Did you want a beer or soda?”

“Beer, please. I guess I just came out of the bath on time. I decided having a soak in the tub would help loosen my tense muscles. Did someone come and pick up the flowers yet?”

Grabbing two beers, I grab her hand and walk her to the living room. She sat down and I handed her a takeout container. “Ya, they came before the food showed up. I told them to put a rush on it. Hopefully, with this one, we can get something off of it. But enough of that for now. I just want you to relax and not think of all this. Just let me take care of this. I made you a promise and I plan to keep it.”

“Fine. I’ll let it go for now but Mason if you find anything out I want to know, please don’t keep it from me.”
