I’m sitting on Lucas’s lap in my office while the police are handling the scene. Both Faith and I have been questioned to hell and back to the point where Lucas said that’s enough and took us to the office. Any other questions they can get from Mason he’s already handed over the video feed and letters. The coroner just showed up to remove Frankie. I still can’t believe he took his own life like that and his poor mother lost her husband and now her son, it's just sad. After coming back to the office Lucas told us everything they found out about Frankie and the life he decided to live and it just breaks my heart that he couldn’t find any peace. Lucas hasn’t let me go. I think he’s having a hard time right now. He's got his arms around me so tight I don’t have the heart to tell him. “I’m okay Lucas, nothing happened to us. You guys saved us before it could.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever get the image of you being held at gunpoint out of my head for a very long time and hearing that shot scared me to death. Nothing can happen to you Ry, I wouldn’t survive it if it did. Hell, I know this isn’t the right time to ask with everything that happened but I need to ask. At this point, I'm a sobbing mess and I can hear Faith sniffing across the desk as well. Watching Lucas pull out a ring, holy shit that's a beautiful, white gold band with diamonds all around it. Grabbing my face in his hands he kisses me like I’m his dying breath that he can’t get enough of. I’m pouring every emotion that I’m feeling at the moment into this kiss. “I love you too Mason. It’s now your time to find happiness” he turns to look at Faith and I know he’s finally going to go for it and I couldn’t be happier for him.
Walking back over to Lucas and back in his arms where I want to be I ask him “can we leave yet? I’m so tired I just want to go home stuff my face and forget this happened”
“Ya everyone is cleared out and the crime scene has been released. We have a clean-up crew coming in about twenty minutes so it should be good for when you open back up on Monday since you're closed tomorrow. I’ll stay behind with Damon and close up for you.”
“Thank you Victor and Damon. I appreciate that.” Walking towards my back door because there’s no way I’m going through the front right now with Mason and Faith trailing behind us. Walking outside I finally breathe in the fresh air and let it settle in my lungs, thanking God for watching over us today and that we came out of that situation alive. Turning to Faith I give her a big hug. “I love you girl, I’ll text you tomorrow. Tell your mom I said hi. And tell her I’ll be by sometime this coming week with those cookies that she loves”
“Love you to Ry, I'll talk to you tomorrow”
I watch her walk away with my brother following close behind her as if something is going to jump out and snatch her. I can’t wait till they come together. I think today lit a fire under Mason's ass.
“Let’s go home baby. Let’s order us some food and it should be delivered by the time we get home”
Pulling up my food app, I go right for my favorite burger place. “I’m craving a bacon double cheeseburger with cheese fries, extra cheese sauce. What do you want?”
“I’ll have the same but order us the nachos as well. We both skipped lunch and I’m starving”
Having placed the order I lay my head against the headrest and close my eyes and just take a moment to myself to go over everything that has happened today and the life that was lost. Even with a gun in my face and my life in danger, I knew everything would work out. I knew somehow Lucas would come for me. And if it wasn't for my brother's high-handedness with installing the panic button without my knowledge, this could have turned out much differently. Lucas grabs my hand and kisses the back of it, not realizing we are already home. I must have spaced out for longer than I thought. Getting out he comes to my side, opens my door helping me down he says
“You doing okay Ry? You spaced out there for a bit. I called your name three times and you didn't hear me.”
“I’m fine Lucas, just hungry and tired. Let's go inside, I could use a drink” walking in the front door I’m greeted by Duke and give him a rub down and walk to the backdoor and let him out. Grabbing two beers I hear the doorbell ring and Lucas shouting he's got it by the time I reach the living room he's already taking out the food. Smelling all that greasy goodness my stomach chooses that moment to growl really loud. I can hear Lucas laughing which is a welcoming sound after today.
“Come and eat baby before your stomach eats you”
It didn't take us long to devour the food leaving nothing. I must have been more hungry than I realized, groaning. I sit back on the couch and drain the rest of my beer now that I'm full. I'm so ready to crash in bed and sleep the night away.
“Why don't you head upstairs and I'll make sure everything is locked up and take Duke out for the night.”
Walking away I head for the stairs groaning with each step I take. This day has been draining and I can't wait till I hit the pillow. Walking into the bathroom I go about my nightly routine of washing my face and brushing my teeth. I see Lucas standing there shirtless and all the sleep I was feeling leaves at that moment and my body lights on fire seeing him on display.

So thank you, baby, for loving someone like me you'll never have to worry about anything because I will be with you for every step, growing old together and having kids, and I can't wait for the day I officially make you mine and see you pregnant.
