She extended her left hand. “Sorry, my right hand is out of commission at the moment.”

Greg took it in stride and shook her left hand.

“This is my sister, Emily Dixon.” Gil nodded toward Emily.

Greg chuckled as he shook Emily’s hand. “Not sure you had to tell me that. Anyone could tell y’all are related. You have the same blue eyes and same black hair, although, thankfully, she is a sight prettier than you.”

Emily flushed at Greg’s obvious flirting.

“I appreciate you bringing two lovely ladies to the office today, Gil. This Saturday has taken a definite turn for the better.”

Gil pointed Emily toward the door that led to their office. “Careful, Greg.”

“What?” Greg feigned innocence and Gil ignored him.

“He’s cute,” Emily said as soon as Gil scanned a card from his wallet and let them into the Secret Service offices. “Is he single?”

Emily wasn’t serious, but Gil wasn’t in the mood to joke. Not about this. “You aren’t interested.”

“How do you know?”

“Because you prefer men who prefer to date one woman at a time.”

Emily’s eyes widened and she grimaced. “That is true. I guess I’ll have to keep looking.”

“Wise decision.”

Emily rolled her eyes and turned to Ivy. “He’s very bossy. The problem is, he’s rarely wrong. It’ssoannoying. This is why I live in DC. I can only take so much of him before he makes me crazy.”

It was Gil’s turn to roll his eyes and turn to Ivy. “All lies.”

“Even the part about you rarely being wrong?”

“Definitely that.”

Gil’s phone rang. “It’s Zane.” He accepted the call. “Dixon.”

“We got him.” Zane yelped at something. “Fine. Faith and Tessa got him. I thought Luke was going to lose it when we caught up to them. Tessa had the guy’s legs, and Faith was sitting on his back in the parking lot. Not what you’d call a clean takedown, but it got the job done.”

More muttering Gil couldn’t hear. “Tess says I’m not telling it right. She and Faith can give you their version later. Guy’s name is Leon something. Tess has it written down. At first he claimed itwas all a misunderstanding. That didn’t hold up after they found a weapon he didn’t have a permit to carry and a picture of Ivy in his wallet.”

Gil’s enjoyment of Zane’s story disappeared. “Picture?”

“Of her walking into her house.”

Gil kept his gaze pointed to the floor, but he could feel the weight of Ivy’s and Emily’s stares.

“They’re taking him to the station. Faith and Tessa are going to make statements. Morris is going to want to talk to Ivy. Again. But Tess convinced him Ivy doesn’t need to make a third trip to tell them he grabbed her arm and then was gone. Morris said he’ll be calling, and when he does, you’d better be answering the phone and handing it off to Ivy.”

“I will.”

“Where’d y’all go?”

“The office.”

“Good call. Luke and I will be there in a few. The manager here stopped us, and he already has a copy of the security footage for you. We’re going to get it and cover the bill.”

“Sounds good. Make sure Lucia gets—”
