“Why would one of his men kill him? A double cross?” asked Slate.

“Maybe…I wonder if the High Priestess knows. Are there any other red dots you can find?” asked Zane.

Slate glanced at his phone, then said, “No…not in Scotland. Just a minute.” Tapping the screen, Slate reset the map, expending it to include all of Europe. “Nope, nothing in Europe either.”

“We don’t know if the rogue wolf has a tracker app and can see where David is,” Logan said.

“True, but maybe he wasn’t one of Michael’s men but was hired just to boost the number of attack wolves,” said Zane.

“Hey, what about the wolves your dragon chased off?” Colton asked. “They weren’t taken into custody.”

“What wolves?” asked Zane.

“We spotted them coming from the south and Iconvincedthem to turn around,” said Logan.

“Where did their red dots go?” asked Colton.

“I bet someone deactivated their transmitters which means they’re still out there,” Zane said. “And that means David is still in danger.”

“Slate, do your people know how many dots there were the night Michael attacked?” asked Logan.

“They might,” Slate responded before sending a text off. “I should know in a minute or so.”

Logan’s phone dinged. After reading the message, he looked at Ian and said, “Everything’s set. Steel is sending me the address of a private clinic that has everything you requested.”

“Fuckin’A,” Zane said. “C’mon babe, let’s get that piece of shit out of you.”

“Just a minute, bro,” said Logan, typing out a message to his head enforcer, “I’m arranging for Groose to provide an escort for us.”

Another ding. This time Slate glanced at his phone. “According to the data my men accessed, there were three distinct groups of red dots…east, southeast and south…all heading to the Scottish Wolf village.”

“Okay,” Logan ordered, “until we figure out who’s still after David, I want both of you to move in with Kieran and me…there’s a second bedroom in this suite…which will make it easier for Groose and his men.”

“We were going to get David’s stuff from Morgan’s so he has something to wear,” said Zane.

“Hmmm, maybe we can stop there after we remove the tracker from David,” Logan said.

“It won’t take me long, since I don’t have a lot,” said David.

“Especially with me helping you, babe,” Zane said.

“Zane, go get your clothes from your suite and bring them here. Ian, Colton, be ready to leave in fifteen minutes. Slate, you’re in charge until we get back. Theo, Norman, Fionn and my mate should be here before we return, so keep them with you and have Maximus stay with Lizzie and Ian’s parents,” said Logan. “Now as my mate would say…chop, chop.”

After everyone left, Logan called Jackson.

Tyson was lounging on the balcony outside his sister’s study, soaking up the sun while he waited to hear Brenda’s plan for the recovery of David. Staring off into the distance, his mind was contemplating what to do first with his new-found wealth and now, since he had a stakein it, greed filled his soul making him antsy about starting to reap his rewards.

“Tyson,” called Brenda, strolling over to the open doors, “what are you doing?”

“Just getting some Vitamin D,” Tyson answered.

Joining her brother, Brenda sat down next to him, her eyes scanning the sky, before handing him a letter. “Here, what do you think about this?”

Taking it, Tyson slowly read it, then whistled. “Really? It’s that simple?”

“Yes, one of my clients is a lawyer. After he researched the law, he told me the Blackwood Pack doesn’t have a leg to stand on. If they don’t hand over David, the High Council will seize him and return him to me,” Brenda said, shrugging her shoulders. “If their Alpha is smart, he won’t put up a fight and if he does, all the better for me.”
