“Yeah, itwasa little over the top.”
David’s brow furrowed at Zane’s comment. “You mean it’s not like this usually?”
“I don’t think so…although I’m not sure. I never claimed anyone before.”
David giggled. “Me, either!”
“But if all claimings are like this,” Zane said, “I can see why my brothers were so up for it; it was a fantastic experience. I loved it when we were floating with our own private light show. Oh, and when we merged, it was the coolest feeling ever. Hey, did you know I got your abilities? At least I think I did.”
“You did?” David asked. “Well, I received your power!”
“What power?”
“I don’t know,” David said. “I just know I got it when our bodies came together. You don’t know what it is?”
“No! Shit, we need to speak to Oracle. I wonder if she’s in Scotland yet.”
“Hey,” David said, “if you got my ability, does that mean you can travel like I can?”
“I dunno but I felt I got more than just one. What else can you do?”
“As far as I know,” said David, thinking for a moment, “just that. You don’t have any idea of what other abilities I might have given you?”
“Nope, but it’s no biggie. What’s most important to me is having you in my life because you have completed me in ways I never knew I needed. Every part of me has been filled with you, pushing out all my sorrow, unhappiness,and loneliness. My soul has been reborn and my heart has healed just because of you. You are my everything and I want to shout it from the top of the tallest mountain, letting the world know how much you mean to me because if I were to ever lose you, I know I would die.”
A tear rolled down David’s cheek. No one had ever said anything as beautiful to him in his life and he would remember his mate’s declaration until the day he ceased to exist. He pulled his mate down to him, his lips seeking Zane’s as he sought to seal their new life with a kiss. His tongue peeked out, eager to taste his mate’s lips before pressing his lips to Zane’s. Gently at first, David deepened his kiss, and desire began to blossom in him again.
Chapter 23
After his passengers slid off his dragon’s back, Logan shifted and, taking Kieran’s hand, led the group down to their suites where he found Oracle waiting for him.
Tired and pissed, Logan wasn’t up for a long discussion with her. “Hi Oracle, good to see you. What can I do for you?”
“Zane has claimed David!”
“And how do you know that? Right…never mind.”
“Logan, I know you are tired, but it is more important than ever that I speak to Zane and David.”
“I figured that, but I can’t help you. They were gone by the time we got there. And no, I don’t have a clue as to where they went. But when I do find them, I’m going to insist Zane has a tracker so it doesn’t happen again.”
“That is a good idea, but we need to find them now. Zane has received his gift and I am worried others will seek to exploit that gift along with David’s ability.”
“I’m worried too,” Logan said, now a bit calmer. “They were under siege when we got there. I was able to scare off the attackers but I’m sure they won’t give up. Unfortunately, unless Zane calls us or we can figure out where they've gone, I’m at a dead end. Let’s hope we get a break soon. In the meantime, if there’s nothing more for now, I’m going to bed.”
“Of course. Get some rest and I will see if Mystia has found out anything in the meantime.”
After Oracle left, Logan turned and found his mate, standing naked in the doorway of their bedroom.Growling, he stalked towards Kieran, “You better not have been there when Oracle was here. No one sees you naked but me!” Reaching his mate, Logan picked Kieran up and, tossing him over his shoulder, strode into their bedroom where they fell on the bed together.
Giggling, Kieran said, “I thought you were proud of me.”
“I am but that doesn’t mean I want anyone to see your delicious body without clothes,” Logan growled in Kieran’s ear.
“Oh,macushla! You know what that does to me!”
“Good! Because I just found some energy.”
Sighing, Kieran said, “Perfecto!”
