After hearing his brother and Kieran leave, Zane whispered, “David, look at me, please.”
Taking one last sniff of his mate’s scent, David raised his head slowly, knowing somehow this was it—the moment his whole life was about to change. When his eyes met Zane’s, he gasped as he saw love burning brightly there, and a strange sensation flooded his heart and soul. Helpless to unlock his gaze, David froze.
Chapter 8
Lowering his face until his lips were a hair’s breadth away from David’s, Zane’s tongue darted out for a brief taste of his mate. Groaning, he could wait no longer, pressing his lips softly, at first, against David’s, then more firmly as his mate responded. When his mate’s lips parted, Zane’s tongue sought entry, wanting more than the brief taste he’d savored.
David’s body filled with need as his lips met his mate’s for the first time—his body melting against his mate’s hard muscles, seeking to be one with Zane. The connection was intensified by tiny sparks of energy he felt wherever he touched his mate—a never ending tantalizing feeling that was driving him wild with on-the-edge lust. The pleasure found by rubbing his tongue against Zane’s was something he’d never experienced before, and he quickly became addicted to it. So overwhelmed was he in this new ecstasy, he never heard someone knocking on the break room door.
Zane heard it, though, and as the door opened, he gentled his kiss before pulling back amid his mate’s whimpers at the loss of contact. Gazing down at David’s closed eyes, he smiled at the sight of his puffy, rosy lips, attesting to a well-kissed mate. Turning his head, he saw Morgan standing in the doorway.
“Uhmm, sorry to interrupt,” Morgan said, “but Logan said David was going to your hotel tonight.”
“Yes, he is. Did my brother give you the address and phone number where we’ll be?” asked Zane.
“Uh-huh. Is David coming back here tomorrow?” asked Morgan.
“We haven’t talked about tomorrow. How about David calls you in the morning?” asked Zane.
“Sure, but can I hear that from him?” asked Morgan.
Softly rubbing David’s back, Zane murmured, “Babe?”
Peeking over Zane’s shoulder, David saw Morgan frowning, refusing to leave. “Err, Morgan? I promise I’ll call you in the morning. Okay?”
“I’d appreciate that, David, but you know you can call me any time you want for any reason,” Morgan said.
David smiled at the man who rescued him when he arrived in Scotland, before saying, “I’ll be all right because the Shaman also promised he’d protect me.”
Sighing, Morgan gave a short nod. “Good. When you two are ready, everyone upstairs is waiting to order dessert.”
Zane murmured, “Ready babe?”
Grinning at his mate, David said, “Yes, I can’t wait to see what you pick.”
“Let’s go, then,” said Zane and, taking his mate’s hand, he led David around Morgan and up to the private dining room.

Scrolling through photos he’d taken of everyone while they were eating dessert, Logan found the one he was looking for and sent it off to Jackson. Punching in his brother’s number on his new bug-proof phone Groose and Dylon insisted he use, it was a perfect time to talk while Kieran was making sure David and Zane had everything they needed in their hotel suite.
“Hey, bro, thanks for the pic. Interesting tattoos.”
“Hi yourself. Yeah, they are, but so is David.”
“Whatcha mean?”
“Hmmm…how to describe this? Well, you know he can disappear but something I’ve never read about happened when David and Zane shook hands. Starting at their clasped hands, a beam of lightening…or so it seemed…shot out and snaked itself up each arm, then over each shoulder and disappeared into each of their chests, near the heart.”
“What happened to the beam?”
“Uhm, it stayed there until it kinda faded into them.”
“Did you notice anything different about Zane afterwards?”
“No, he seemed fine.”
“What did David do when it happened?”
