Minutes pass.
What’s she writing?
A fucking novel?
And then they disappear, along with all my foolish expectations.
Chapter Thirteen
SAVANNAH
It’s Saturday again and my ass is once again numb from the cheap plastic poolside seats. Ronan’s in the water with my daughters. Isla is trying to jump on his back, while Eden is listening attentively as he explains something I can’t quite hear.
He’ll make a brilliant father one day.
Where the fuck did that thought come from?
Who am I kidding? I’ve been thinking carnal thoughts about Ronan all damn week, and my daughters are living proof of where carnal thoughts lead to.
Seriously though, the sight of him with the twins makes my ovaries want to combust with lust.
He glances around and I drop my gaze to the contract from Coral I’ve been skim-reading on my lap. I know what it says. I’ve read it multiple times this week. I pull out a pen from my handbag and sign my name on the dotted line.
I’ve been holding off just in case I couldn’t hack the water. In case when it came down to it, I couldn’t do it. But I can do it, with the help of a certain sexy swimming instructor who I can’t take my eyes off.
It’s almost like I dreamt up that smoking hot kiss last week, and the conversation that followed. I thought he might text or call but the only contact from him after that was his perfunctory text with the time for today’s lesson.
But I didn’t dream it because I can still feel where his lips touched mine. The heat burning where his hand grazed my bikini bottoms.
Can still feel heat exuding from his liquid molten eyes.
Feel his hot breath skimming my skin.
After the wine on Sunday, I almost caved.
I even typed out the text. But when it came down to it, I just couldn’t do it.
No matter how much I want to.
Even contemplating starting something with Ronan feels like cheating on my followers. Like I’m a fraud. Like I’m claiming to be something I’m not.
I glance at my watch. The lesson’s almost up. That’s my Ronan fix over for another day, sadly.
My phone rings in my pocket just as Ronan hauls himself out of the pool and stands directly in front of me. The girls have gone to the deep end to have their five minutes of fun before the next students arrive.
I fumble in my bag and pull out the phone, tearing my eyes from Ronan, half naked, dripping, and gorgeous, to the screen which says number withheld.
‘Sorry, I need to take this. It’s work.’ I swipe to answer, shooting him an apologetic glance.
‘Hello?’
‘Hi Savannah, it’s Susie here from Coral.’
‘Susie, how are you?’ I thumb the contract on my lap.
‘Fine, thanks. Just checking everything is okay. We didn’t receive the contract back yet.’ Concern taints her tone.
‘Everything is fine.’ My eyes lock with Ronan’s. He’s hovering. Probably to arrange a time for tomorrow. ‘I’vesigned it. I’ll drop it in the post first thing Monday morning. Or I can scan and email it if you need it before then?’
