I wake from a deep jet lag slumber, snuggled under the comfort of Jayden’s silk sheets. There’s nothing awkward about waking up with him, apart from the sheer size of him pressing against me. The heat pulsing between us is hotter than the desert, though not as dry. Prising myself from his solid arms, I slip out of bed and creep down the corridor in search of a glass of water.
The house is gigantic. Three doors line the long corridor, all slightly ajar. My curiosity piques, I can’t resist taking a peek while Jayden’s still sleeping.
The first door leads into a bathroom bigger than my bedroom. A whirlpool bath sits beneath a huge circular window overlooking lush gardens and greenery while deep green walls contrast the brilliant white bathroom suite. I’m drawn in and stand before a mirrored cabinet where I glimpse my matted hair. An unmistakable luminous glow replaces my usual dull skin.
Instinctively, my fingers reach for the cabinet. Row upon row of neatly stacked toiletries stare back at me. Cleansers, moisturisers, day creams, night creams. Who would have thought the most masculine man I’ve ever met has a skin care regime? I silently close the cabinet and creep back into the hall.
The second door off the corridor opens up into what is obviously Jayden’s office. The walls are dark, but the furniture is white. Two industrial-sized matching desks occupy the centre of the room, each housing an iMac and a stack of paperwork.
Further along the corridor, I find the last room has been decorated in pastel pink, with cream embroidered bedding and a vanity station, in contrast to the dark, masculine colours lining every other wall in Jayden’s mansion.
‘Chloe?’ Jayden’s voice from along the hallway makes me jump.
‘Just grabbing some water.’
With a million questions swirling around my head, I run down the stairs and back up again as fast as my legs will carry me, returning to Jayden’s bedroom with my water. I deliberately don’t look in the pink room again. It stirs questions that I’m not sure I want answered.
I place my glass on a bedside locker and snuggle back into the comfort of Jayden’s arms. His bedroom is every bit as masculine as him. I feel safe, protected here in a way I didn’t realise I yearned to be.
‘That’s better,’ he murmurs, gripping my waist and grinding himself against me.
‘Does that thing ever go down?’ It’s me who’s feeling smug now.
‘Not when you’re around.’
My phone vibrates next to the water.
Warm hands slide around my chest to cup my breasts. The man is insatiable. It’s not a complaint. ‘Ugh. Who is that?’ he groans.
‘My sister. Payback’s a bitch. I normally ring her every morning and wake her, but I’ve been preoccupied lately.’ I reject the call and inch back onto Jayden’s ever ready erection. A low moan of approval brushes my ear and a wave of contentment washes over me.
My phone buzzes again. When I reach out to grab it, Jayden grips my hips and growls, ‘Don’t you dare, Princess. Take the call, by all means, but don’t even think about sliding off me.’
I mentally apologise to my sister before accepting her call.
‘Chloe, where are you? Izzy said you’ve gone AWOL. You didn’t check into the hotel yesterday and Ruby said she hasn’t seen you in weeks.’
‘I’m fine. Sorry, I’m catching up with… an old colleague.’
‘What colleague?’ She breathes a brief sigh of exasperation and then her voice returns to her initial high-pitched squeal. ‘Never mind! I’ve got some exciting news. You’ll never believe it. Adam Draker wants you to organise his next tour. He was so impressed with the stage set up forIt’s Always Been You,he reached out to Ryan yesterday. Ryan can’t actually stand him, by the way. He’s supposed to be a total womaniser, but I don’t need to tell you how big this is.’
Jayden pumps me low and slow from behind, as if to demonstrate the precise definition of big.
‘That’s amazing,’ I purr to him, not to her.
Sasha babbles on excitedly. ‘Itisamazing! It’s exactly what you wanted. Liberty Events Management is going global, honey!’
‘Uh, huh. It’s exactly what I need.’ I bite my lip to stop my moan as Jayden relentlessly drives into me, delivering me straight to heaven.
‘When are you viewing the offices? I’ll meet you there. Oh my god, this is so exciting.’
It really is. If I’m mixing in the music industry circles, I’m bound to cross paths with Jayden, even after our fling has ended.
What the fuck? Rein it in, Chloe. That wasn’t part of the deal.
‘I’m not sure. I’ll call you back this afternoon.’ I throw the phone across the room and grind back against the god-like creature behind me.
He flips me onto my front, face down onto the pillow.
