My hair fans across the pillow, untamed, like the thoughts that run through my delinquent head. My fingers brush mindlessly over my chest before grazing lower across my stomach. Goosebumps ripple across my skin. Not for the first time, I’m filled with a longing so acute it’s practically painful. Where’s Perky Pete when I need him? Though lately, even my trusty toy fails to fully scratch the itch Jayden incites.

How can I be so obsessed? I don’t even like him. Well, he’s grown on me, a little. Certain parts of him, at least.

‘Fuck’s sake, Jayden.’ His name rolls from my tongue in a dreamy, exasperated sigh. Thank god he’s not here to hear it.

Movement from the corner of the room catches my eye. My heart leaps into my throat as a strangled squeal bursts out. I grab the sheets, bunching them up over my chest as it heaves with erratic breaths.

‘You called?’ An amused, gravelly tone cuts through the air.

Liquid metal eyes glint across the moonlit room as Jayden’s low, slow exhale plumes before him.

Speak of the devil and he arrives again. I’m going to have to call him Lucifer.

I jolt upright, yanking the duvet even higher, my heart pummelling my ribcage. ‘What the hell, Jayden? How did you even get in here? You can’t waltz in and stare at me. I’m pretty sure there’s a law against that.’

‘What can I say? Housekeeping are rather obliging.’ He shrugs in a casual gesture, but there’s nothing casual about the hungry glint he harbours.

‘Huh, you always did have a way with the chambermaids.’ I flop back onto the bed as my breathing finally slows to a near normal pace.

‘I have a way with more than just the chambermaids, Princess. Judging by the way you pant my name, like seeing me is your dying request, you know it.’

He saunters closer, undoing his tie, discarding it at the foot of the bed. Nimble fingers roll up the sleeves of his shirt. Even through the dimness, the strength of those forearms is apparent. A heady glimmer of determination emanates from his eyes. He’s looking at me like I’m his next course. I don’t know whether I’m afraid or elated.

‘I’ll happily stand here and watch where that hand goes next, but if you want it done right, Princess, all you have to do is say it. Either way, I’m not going anywhere.’

My stomach flips. ‘Did I mention I fucking hate you?’

Husky laughter echoes between us. In one swift motion, he drops to his knees and grabs my ankles, yanking me to the edge of the bed.

‘Jayden.’ The warning in my voice is clear.

‘I know, Princess, you don’t do repeats. But this isn’t a repeat because it’s going to be exponentially more mind-blowing than the first time.’

His tongue starts at my ankle before rolling up over my calf to the sensitive spot behind my knee. My pelvis arches off the bed and he’s nowhere near it yet. His chuckle vibrates against the inside of my thigh.

That arrogant tongue is good for something, at least.

Who am I kidding? It’s good at everything, just like every other part of him. The man is a fucking god in the bedroom. And if his reputation is anything to go by, he’s pretty powerful out of it too.

‘Say it, Princess, and it’s yours. Tell me what you need.’ His fingers pin my thighs apart as his eyes drink me in.

So, we really are back to this again.

I’ve always hated that word, the one he made me say last time. I’m too close to the edge to care about my dignity. ‘I need your tongue on my…’

Before I can finish the sentence, it’s there, right where I need it. My eyes roll back as my fingers shamelessly rake through his close-cropped hair.

With deft, expert strokes, he brings me to the brink in seconds before abruptly stopping.

I might actually die of lust.

‘Look at me while I make you come.’ It’s a command, but there’s an underlying tenderness there too.

Dark, compelling eyes hold mine as his tongue resumes its rhythm. The earth shatters around me, chasing the breath from my lungs as I ride wave after wave of ecstasy.

He drops his trousers before nudging me back up the bed. Why did I ever fight him in the first place?
