He steps toward me, squeezing my chin between his fingers and tilting my face up toward him.
"Everything will be taken care of, trust me." Miller presses the softest kiss on my forehead and I do the thing I find hardest in life—I trust him to handle things.
"I'll take one of those," Alec says and tips his head down at Miller.
Miller rolls his eyes and shoves him lightly in the chest. "I am not giving you a forehead kiss."
"Ah, man, come on," Alec laughs playfully and reaches for my hand. "You ready queen?"
I raise an eyebrow at him. "Queen?"
He shrugs. "I always hear Magnus call June princess; you've got a more queen vibe to me."
"I like it," Miller confirms and pats my head. "Our queen." He winks at me, and I nearly die. "I'll have to get you a crown."
"Do not get me a crown!"
"Nothing too flashy...a proper tiara." Miller takes off in the direction of the door, the noise of the hospital buzzing once we're through it.
The three of us walk side by side with me in the middle, Alec's hand wrapped around mine and Miller's resting on my lower back. It's…different…to be in public with them like this. There’s a strange intimacy about how we're existing together. Neither of them is overly possessive of me, at least not with each other, and for a second, I allow myself to consider the possibility of what it would be like if we had a similar situation like June does with her men.
None of them are into each other, and they're all focused on her. I wonder if that's something Miller and Alec would be willing to do. As of right now, the way they're taking turns driving me around and babysitting me, it leads me to think that they might. But then there's Silver...the oh-so-serious old man who never in a million years would share me.
Although...he does read reverse harem novels and is very aware of June's relationship dynamic. Maybe being together isn't as farfetched as I once thought. Not having to choose between them would be ideal, because if someone put a gun to my head right now and asked me to, I don't think I could.
I like each one of them, all for different reasons.
Alec for his excessively thoughtful nature.
Miller for his psychotic tendencies.
And Silver for his assertive dominance laced with sweetness.
It's not traditional and doesn't really make sense, the three of them with someone like me, but it feels right, and I don't want to lose what we've just begun.
Only...the ticking clock on turning my uterus and body over to a man who beat the shit out of his daughter in front of me is a reminder that my happily ever after is far from reach.

SILVER
Ioverturn every single stone I can uncover.
I make phone call after phone call, digging up whatever dirt I can find on the man who thinks he has a claim on my angel.
"I don't know, Silver," an old pal of mine, Dravin says through the receiver. "You're barking up the wrong tree if you think I'm going to cross him. You should tread lightly, son. If he finds out you're on a witch hunt, he'll come after you himself."
Honestly, I wish he would, then I could end things and guarantee that he dies without ever laying another finger on Cora.
"You can't give me anything? Really? Everything I've done for you, that's how you do me?" I tell him, hating myself a bit at such a low blow.
All our transactions have been equal. I get paid to do a job. A favor is returned with a favor. We're even. Sure, I've helped him out of shitty situations, but I've never left empty-handed. To insinuate that there's an imbalance here is fucked up on my behalf, and still, it's the angle I play because I'm desperate.
"You're killing me, Silver." Dravin sighs dramatically and clears his throat. "Listen, you didn't hear shit from me, okay, but word is he's got some guy on the inside of Dom's organization giving him info. You hear about those shipments that keep going missing or getting picked up by the coppers? Yeah, it's Ricky, my man."
"Thanks, Dravin, I appreciate you. I won't forget it."
"Just leave my name out of it, alright, Sil? I trust you, but Ricky still has pull, and he'll have my head if he finds out I was talking shit."
