“I haven’t seen him for over a year. Haven’t needed to.”
He asked Ryder more questions about his diet, exercise, and habits. Nothing had changed on that side. His body was his business, so he needed to take good care of it all the time. The doctor was tapping his pen, deep in thought. He wasn’t someone who gave a quick diagnosis to get you out the door.
“Okay, Ryder. Let’s do a quick examination of your prostate.”
“My prostate? I’m not old, doc.”
“I agree, but we need to rule things out, and erectile dysfunction can have links to an enlarged prostate.”
“Did you just say my dick is dysfunctional?”
The doctor laughed and gestured to the bed. Not that he hadn’t had a prostate exam before, or that he was precious about the doctor putting a finger up his ass—Ryder was a total top, but wasn’t against a bit of ass play—however, hearing the doctor snap on latex gloves and pull out anindustrial size bottle of lube with a pump, there was nothing remotely sexy about what was about to happen.
Ryder took his trousers and underwear off and got onto his side, pulling his knees up. If the Ryder in college could imagine an older straight guy like this fingering him, he would have popped a boner. In college he’d walked around with a permanent hard-on and had a thing for older men. His fellow students were too inexperienced, and didn’t know what to do with his cock, but older men and women were always up for anything.
Once the doctor had done his reach around, Ryder got dressed.
“I couldn’t feel anything to be concerned about, but I’ll order some bloodwork anyway to rule everything out. I think it might be psychological. You should make an appointment with your therapist.”
“It can’t be psychological. I got hard with one guy.”
“You didn’t say that before. Who is this man?”
“I only just met him, and before you ask, no, we haven’t fucked.”
“That’s not how I would have worded the question.”
Ryder snorted.
“Are you seeing this man again?”
“I’d like to.”
“I think in this case, the lack of anything on the prostate exam and the fact you’re a fit and healthy young man, it could be a mental block. The blood tests will hopefully confirm there’s nothing physiological.”
“What about Viagra?”
“I can write you a prescription.”
“Let’s park that for now, doc. I’m not there yet.”
Ryder waited for him to provide the blood form, and he went back to reception to arrange it. They could do it straight away, which was helpful, so he wouldn’t need to wait around or come back later. Ten minutes later, he was getting into theback of a cab and heading home when he got a notification confirming a delivery was on its way. He smiled and put his phone away. It would take him twenty minutes to get home, so he closed his eyes and imagined a cute redhead, his skin all flushed as Ryder devoured him. His cock twitched, and Ryder wondered if it was trying to tell him something.
CHAPTER 6
FELIX
Felix couldn’t stop looking at the flowers in amazement. They were beautiful and there were so many of them, of all varieties—roses, amaryllis, orchids, poinsettias, lilies, hellebores, evergreens, and hypericum berries. There were reds and greens, with gold and silver accents as well in the ribbons. Their apartment looked like a Christmas fair, and the smell was divine. He couldn’t help but look at the note again.
Dear Felix,
Please accept my apologies. You’re welcome to use any of the pictures you took. I know I’ll look great in all of them with you as the photographer! I still want to be part of your important project. Hope you like the flowers.

P.S. Red is my favorite color!
Felix couldn’t help but laugh at the last part. Even in an apology, Ryder couldn’t help but flirt. Laura had practically swooned when she’d seen all the flowers, and said Felix needed to get round to Ryder’s apartment immediately and drop to his knees. It sounded like a great idea in theory, but he’d still rather have Ryder as a friend than a one-night stand. Damn his morals! He would send a thank you note to Ryder, but right now he had to get a new camera before his next gig. Mrs. Delaune had refused to pay him the rest of his fee. Sapphire had said she hated all the pictures and didn’t want any of them. She hadn’t asked for the pre-payment back, so Felix was going to use it towards a new camera.
