“I’m pregnant,” I blurt, too sated to find a better way to share the news and too anxious to wait any longer.

Natalia pops up from Hudson’s shoulder, her long, dark hair swaying. “What?”

Hudson’s ice-blue eyes go wide in shock, but as the realization settles over him, his features soften. A trembling smile spreads over his lips, and his gaze turns misty. “Angel…” He cups my face with a strong, shaking hand. “A baby?”

I nuzzle into him, nodding as unexpected tears build in my eyes.

Gaze darting to Natalia, I study her as trepidation trickles through my chest. She still looks surprised, and I can’t decide if that’s good or bad.

“Are…are we ready for this?” I ask, my question directed at my best friend—my wife.

Nat and I married officially two years ago. We figured Hudson got to have the babies, so the two of us would have the titles. Plus, Natalia’s always been my best friend first, and making her my wife felt as natural as breathing.

“Of course, we’re ready, Ells. We’re always ready.” She smiles gently, reaching across Hudson to kiss my nose. “I love you,” she whispers before dragging her mouth to Hudson’s cheek. “I love you.”

“I love you,” the two of us echo back.
