Roxy and Oakley each bring a tray of food out and set them on the table next to where Artie and Dad are seated.
I grab a plate for each of them and place it in front of them. Each one has a little bit of everything from the menu. We’re starting off small and planning to have specials every week. There are only a dozen entrée options at the moment, but I want to make sure I can handle this before I add more.I know I’ll be working mostly alone until I can find someone to work with me.
I refuse to let this place fail, which means it all needs to be manageable to me.I'm confident I can handle this menu without any issues.
Everyone takes a seat at the surrounding tables and I hand each of them a plate.Everyone here was a critical part to the café becoming what it is right now.I couldn’t have done any of this without them.
I open my mouth to explain what all is on the plates when the front door opens and the Savage Wolves flood my little café.Each of them takes a seat and I chuckle.Storm told me to prepare enough food for all of them, but I didn’t believe they’d come.
“I want to thank each and every one of you for the part you played in The Little Fox Café.I know some of you did the grunt work and pulled out the destruction after the fire. Many of you helped in multiple ways and gave so much of your time.I appreciate all of you. You’re my family and I don’t know what I’d do without you.Jasper and Morris, thank you for making my dream a reality and working so hard on the little things.Chopper, thank you for entertaining my craziness and moving the plumbing around.Dad, thank you for letting me do all of this and for believing in me… Artie, thank you for trusting me with your restaurant and letting me bring Jenni’s dream to life.Storm… I don’t know what I’d do without you. You’re my better half. The one person I can count on no matter what’s going on around me.You listened when I complained about wanting a place to share my food with the world. You went out of your way to find this place and make this actually happen. You convinced Dad to allow this and then put all of your time and money into this.I love you and the massive heart you have.”
The guys clap and someone whistles loudly.I chuckle as I swipe at the moisture under my eyes.
“To thank you all, I have a little menu sampler.I’d love to hear your thoughts before we open in a week!”
Another round of cheers goes up as Roxy and Oakley help me hand out plates to each person. They all dig in immediately and the chatter dies down. After I hand out the last plate, I take my place next to Storm and watch the people I love enjoying my cooking.
“You did it, Little Fox.You made your dream your future,” Storm murmurs in my ear as he slips an arm around my waist and tugs me against his chest.“I'm so proud of you.”
“I'm pretty sure you’re the one who made my dream my future.Thank you.”
“We’re in this life together, Dix.It will always be us against the world.”
“I think we have a few people in our corner to help us too.”I smile at the men I used to find frustrating.
I hated cooking for them day in and day out.I haven’t changed my mind about that, but now that I get to cook whatever I want, I'm happy to cook for them again. This whole adventure has taught me I have a massive family at my back.I know they’ll be there to support me no matter what happens and I appreciate that more than they’ll ever know.
The club might annoy me at times, but at the end of the day, I wouldn’t walk away from them. You can't leave your family, they’re always a part of you.
