“He has no intention of keeping his distance. He’s planning some bullshit. I just don’t know what. So we better get on the same page real fucking quick.”
“Well, fuck,” I grumble, and head into the kitchen, pushing past Thor on my way. I grab everything I need and make myself an espresso. Might as well use the fancy machine while we’re still alive. “Anyone else want one? Seems like we’re going to need it.”
BEAU
Four sets of eyes watch me. Four bodies. Four people. Part of me still can’t believe this is happening. I thought having Dream and Thor here by my side was too good to be true, but with Apollo and Hudson here?Fuck.
I’ve never felt lucky, but this moment is like every wish I’ve ever made. Apollo is safe and by my side, far out of my father's reach. And there are three people working hard to keep him that way. To keep me safe, too.
I know she thought it was cheesy, but saying she’s a dream come true wasn’t a lie.
Being famous has kept me alive. I think my mom knew I’d need a shield, so she made sure I was in the public eye. It doesn’t stop Scott from hurting me as much as he can, but I do think it’s what’s keeping my heart beating. Harder to make me disappear without the entire country noticing I’ve gone missing.
Keeping my hands off of Dream is impossible now. Every little touch I can get away with, I go for. I’d pull her into mylap so I could play with her hair and nuzzle her all day long if I thought she'd let me.
So pretty, so soft, so sweet.
She’s tempted but keeps pulling away. Maybe I’m just being stupid, falling for the Omega that sees me as a job. I don’t care. I was a goner the first time she took my hand in hers. Now I just need to keep her.
Thor rearranged the living room so that all the seats face each other, with the small oval coffee table in the center between us. There are several plates of untouched food, as well as a few bottles of water, laid out across it, waiting to be claimed. He’s really good at caring for us, even though he doesn’t have to.A good Alpha. The shiver the thought sends through my body is involuntary. He’s so big, I bet Dream and I could both fit on his lap…
Dream sits across from me with her legs tucked up under her as she sips her espresso from the coffee mug she found in the kitchen. Thankfully, for the sake of my sanity, she’s dressed in a matching black hoodie and sweatpants now. No more sexy, irresistible Omega thighs on full display.
It's hard not to run my fingers all over every inch of skin when she lets me get a peek.
“I don’t know where to start.” Hudson sighs, shaking his head as he reaches for the cup of espresso that Dream made him. The fucking groan he lets loose is criminal.
Who gave Alphas the ability to make that noise?
Sweet hell. Even Apollo shifts in his seat, especially when sweet Omega perfume fills the air. Dream keeps her expression blank, but there's no hiding that scent. If I bought rose oil to slather all over my body, would that be too obvious? What about vanilla icing…would she let me lick it off her fingers?
“Okay, well, Hudson’s dad is an Omega. Thor can suppress his dominance at will, and Hudson can suppress his scent in asimilar way. I’ve only ever known of Alphas being able to do this if both of their parents are Omegas,” Dream explains, getting right to the point when Hudson hesitates.
“She’s right, but no one knows the truth, though, so please.” The Alpha lifts his head, glancing at each of us. “Please don’t ever repeat this. To anyone.” He looks genuinely terrified for his father.
There’s this instinct that sometimes claws at my chest. To soothe, or be soothed by, Alphas. I want to scoot closer to him. I want to crawl into his lap and curl up like a house cat claiming its spot for the day…
“We won’t. You can trust us, and I hope I can trust you, too, because I’m not a Beta. I’m an Omega,” I say, hoping to ease some of his fears for his father’s safety. “I’ve been hiding as a Beta since the day I perfumed.” I sigh, fighting to hold eye contact with him. I don’t want to look away, but it’s difficult for me to resist the urge. “I hate it. All the medications, all the blockers, sprays, and needles…all the suppression. It was never my choice. Scott took that away from me.”
“Beau’s right, Hudson. No one in this room will reveal your father’s secret. You can trust that,” Dream offers, with a sweetness I crave.
“Unless you blab about Beau. If you betray us, we’ll betray you,” Apollo threatens, still clicking away at his computer.Annnnnd, there goes all of the progress.
“Apollo!” Dream curses, eyes wide. “Fucking hell, can you be chill for, like, thirty seconds, please?”
“No one is going to betray anyone,” Thor grunts, shaking his head at the other Alpha.
“I won’t, Beau. You can trust me.” Hudson’s words are so sincere, even after a threat from Apollo. I bite my bottom lip, heat flaring in his gaze for a second. “I had no idea you werean Omega. It’s all making a lot more sense now. I’ll help you, whatever it takes.”
“Thank you, Alpha,” I practically purr before choking on the sound and clearing my throat. Smooth.
“Do you want to tell us how you ended up working for Scott, and why?” Thor asks.
“Okay.” Hudson nods, setting his mug down and sitting up straight. “But then I want to know how you three ended up here. Deal?”
“Deal.”
“Alright. Fuck it, here goes nothing, I guess.”
