“From Hayes Pack.TheHayes Pack? As in Declan and Kodiak Hayes?”
“Yes. They’re our bosses at Haze.” Even though I’ve already guessed how he would take the news. Fortunately he doesn’t surprise me, as he sits back in his seat, eyes going wide.
“Oh, holy fucking shit. That’s why you kept bringing up Priscilla; you already know her, and you already know where she is.” Now he glares. "You were testing me!”
“Yep. Now can we read the email, or do you need another second?”
“Do you want to read it out loud?” Thor asks me before glancing over to Hudson. “Or…” He shrugs, trailing off, but I can fill in the blanks.
Or do I want to hide what it says from Hudson?
“Out loud. I have a feeling it includes the new guy. Any objections?” I lift my brow at Apollo. The Alpha keeps his eyes glued to the computer screen, pretending he’s alone in this hotel room.
Because that’s not suspicious at all.
He didn’t even protest when I mentioned Easton or Hayes Pack.
My Omega senses are tingling. If I had to guess, I’d say that Alpha was naughty, and he already knows what the email says.
Beau takes a seat at the counter with Hudson, accepting a plate of bacon and eggs. I stand at the edge so I can see all four men as I read the email for everyone.
“It says, ‘Bee. Deck spoke with A, but the fucker sounded shifty as hell. He’s like me. No way he trusts a new Alpha, and I don’t trust him to tell you this info.” I stop reading to glare at Apollo.
He won’t even look my way. I’ll deal with him once I’m done.
“Then it says,'Declan and Kodiak said Hudson and his father saved Priscilla. They’ve saved dozens of Omegas since. Maybe more that just never went through our channels. Whatever trouble you think he’s in, he got himself into it on purpose, and for a good reason. They’re on our side. We’re reaching out to his father, and we’ll tell Tee when we know more. Tell Tee…"I pause, looking up at the massive Alpha. “This part is in all caps.” I wince but go on.“'Tell Tee TO ANSWER HIS FUCKING PHONE OR I WILL BLOW UP HIS CAR NEXT!'It’s signed East.”
I fix my glare on Apollo as I cross my arms over my chest.
“Fucking Easton,” he hisses, shutting his laptop before turning to meet my stare.
“You hid my phone, didn’t you?” Thor accuses with wide eyes filled with betrayal. “I thought I left it somewhere, or lost it, but you fucking hid it. You little shit.”
“You leave your things in unsecure places.” Apollo shrugs. “Had to be done.”
“My duffle bag, tucked under my bed in my secret hotel room, was pretty damn secure, Apollo.” Thor growls, then takes a deep breath, turning away from the other Alpha to pour a glass of apple juice. Despite his anger, he’s still not using his dominance against the unruly man. Sweet Thor. I don’t need dominance to shoot death daggers at Apollo.
Hope he feels my glare in his soul.
“What the fuck, man? You talked to Declan and still stormed in here trying to kill him?” I smack my palms on the counter, finally getting his eyes on me.
“Yes.” He neither looks sorry nor sounds the least bit regretful. He’s giving‘and I’d do it again, too.’
“Very bad Alpha…” I shake my head, throwing my hands up in the air, annoyed that he knew all of this before barging in here to“rescue”me from Hudson. Speaking of, where did he sneak off to…?
I start to panic, worried he’s betraying us to Scott right now while we’re distracted. I’m about to sprint after him when he returns to the kitchen holding a phone.Oh no. Lead drops into my empty stomach.
“What are you doing with that?” I ask cautiously, eyes narrowed. It’s not the same phone I saw him texting Scott on yesterday, but so help me, if he fucked us now, after all the effort to prevent his death...
“The only person that has the number for this phone is my father.” Hudson holds it up. “We’re only supposed to use it if it’s urgent. If he hears from Hayes Pack, I’ll know soon. But if not…”
“Why does that sound like a threat?” My tone is deadly. He’s outnumbered. I’ll tear his throat out with my teeth to protect Apollo and Beau.
“I’m not just going to believe you. You’ve got no proof,” he says instead of whatever threat was on the tip of his tongue.
“If the shady fuck in the corner gives me my phone back, I’ll call them myself.” Thor seems unfazed by Hudson’s reaction, but I’m feeling a little bit insulted.
You could be an Alpha-kabob right now, buddy. He could have just said he wanted to talk to his dad to confirm, instead of ‘but if not…’
