“I can’t go back there, Dream,” I admit. “But I can show you.” I pull her phone out of her pocket, holding back a growl when she releases me, taking her warm touch with her. “I’ll watch over you, but you shouldn’t go alone.”

“I’ll tell Trev.” She nods.

“Or Easton,” I offer, but she shoots me a skeptical look. Fair. He’s probably better for situations that require stealth or destruction. No in between. “Or Trev,” I huff in acceptance, frowning at his name.

Trev.

It just doesn’t fit him.

I shake the thought off. Fucking weird. The fuck do I care for?

I swear this Omega is messing with my head, and my head is already messy enough.

DREAM

“Do you think I need to be worried about him kidnapping me? Like seriously?”

I’m expecting Tatum to giggle at my question. I find it deeply concerning that she frowns instead, taking in Apollo like a science project she’s judging.

He’s been watching me. All afternoon.

“No more than I ever worried about Easton kidnapping me.” She eventually shrugs, stuffing another fry in her mouth.

“You weren’t worried because you didn’t know he was completely bonkers until it was too late,” I remind her. “They’re much too similar. I feel like we should separate them before they plot world domination or something.”

“I think it’s sweet.” Her dreamy sigh is sickeningly adorable. She’s so in love that it triggers my cuteness aggression, and now I want to strangle her or crush her with a hug.

Must kill the cuteness. Crush it in my arms until I feel it in my bones…

That reflex will never not be wild. Kill it because it’s cute? Humans are so fucking weird.

My ass cheeks are going numb from sitting on this truck bed for so long, even with the padding. Easton brought Tatum a couch cushion that she refused to accept until they grabbed onefor me as well. Must be nice to have such attentive mates. Even if they are skilled in terrifying ways.

I giggle, making her raise a questioning brow.

“You have a type.” I shrug. “Killer in disguise. Crazy on the inside, cute on the outside. Oh! Cute but psycho, if you will,” I tease, snorting when she narrows her eyes in mock offense.

“I loved all of you before I knew any of you were secretly hiding homicidal rage.” Tatum huffs, squinting. “Except for maybe Hayden.”

“In my defense…they deserved it?”

“They did.” She nods, agreeing easily. One thing about my bestie? She’s always on your side. In an argument, in a robbery, and most especially if you went on a revenge spree and murdered some people.Allegedly.

I kick my dangling feet, waiting patiently for the Alphas to wrap up the pre-mission meeting. We’ve discussed our roles, the plan, and what happens once we leave here.

“I’m going to miss you.” Tatum sniffs, leaning into me.

“I know.” I pause until she swats my thigh, giggling. “I’ll miss you too, but I won’t be far. Hopefully we can take Scott out quickly.” I sigh, resting my head on hers when she lays it on my shoulder.

“Fucking Apollo,” Kodiak hisses, startling us both. Of course he pulls Tatum into him, soothing her. Probably scared her just so he could comfort her. Shady fuck.

“What’s wrong?”

“He knew about Scott the whole time. We could’ve been looking into the fuck four months ago,” he answers. Kodiak is all growly Alpha dominance, but the scent of it turns my nose. Not mine. Not for me…

“Oh shit.” It makes no sense. Wouldn’t he want Scott caught if he knew the bastard would be hunting him?Unless…“He was protecting Beau.”

Maybe he was worried Hayes Pack would blame Beau too, or maybe it was subconscious after years of trauma. He’s had years of Scott convincing him he would never be free. Hell, he probably believed Scott would take Beau down with him if he could.
