The level in my well dropped only a fraction before he lifted his head and gave me a smile that made my heart roar. As he left me, he offered me a taste of his own magic. It was lightning blasting across the sky. The crash of thunder overhead. A symphony of two souls entwining together.

He opened his eyes and delved deeply within mine.Your magic thrums like an unseen heartbeat. It’s pure joy.

“Vexxion,” I croaked. “Do you feel better?”

“I feel amazing.”

My lips quirked up, and I swiped away my tears. “How amazing?”

You don’t realize how powerful you are.He moved closer, his arms tightening around me. “Let me show you how you made me feel.”

“I think, my wicked fae lord, I should show you.” I rose and nudged him down onto his back. You were horribly drained. You keep tasting my body yet you’re stingy.

I apologize for being stingy. His grin made everything inside me flip over. A profound ache pulsed through me with every heartbeat, radiating both joy and vulnerability, a tender soreness full of desire.

With a quick flit, he took us inside the bathing area. Like whenever I bathed at his family estate, candles flickered in the dark room, water steamed in the tub big enough for at leastfour people, and a solitary rose bloomed from a crystal vase on a low table near the tub.

“You mentioned you enjoy bathing with me,” he said with a smile.

“That wasn’t exactly what I said, but hmm . . .” My body hummed along with my voice as he stepped over the edge of the tub and sunk down into the water, gently placing me on his lap, facing him with my legs around his body.

“What were you saying about tasting?” he asked.

“This is your warning. Everything you have is mine.”

“I’m glad you agree.”

I snuggled closer, pressing my body against his, savoring how wonderful it was to be held by him. I thought I’d lost him. I thought he’d betrayed me. It was going to take a long moment to get used to the idea that we were not only back together again, but that our relationship was stronger than it had been before.

He lifted my chin, and our eyes met. So many tiny lights swirled through his sapphire eyes, stars veiled by twilight—elusive yet radiant, their beauty surpassed only by the depth of our feelings for each other.

“In this world of complete turmoil, you’re my heart's whisper,” he rasped. “The serene harbor my soul will eternally return to. There will never be anyone else for me but you, Fury.”

I stroked my palms across his chest and up to his shoulders to hold tight, speaking softly, reverently. “You’re the dawn that breaks through my endless night.”

His fingertips traced up and down my spine, drawing my heat to the surface.

“There’s no line where you end and I start,” I said. “That doesn’t scare me anymore. Like you named me, whatwehave is imperfectly perfect, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Our intertwined souls blur at the edges. I feel like we’re wisps of fog drifting across the water in the early morning. We swirl together, and only then are we better. We’re different individuals, each unique and imperfect in our own way, but when we join?” I couldn’t hold back my smile. “Then, only then, are we perfect.”

He gave me a kiss that seared through me, remaking me into something new, something better than I was before I met him.

“I don’t want anyone but you,” I said. “And that’s how it’s going to be until the end of my life and beyond.”

He kissed me again, showing me with the heat of his mouth and his tight grip on my arms how desperate he was for me. Not just to be with me physically, but to build something new between us that was lasting.

I stroked my fingertips across his chest, pausing to trace them along the lines of his abdomen before I cupped his stiff cock. He’d shown me so much pleasure, from a trace of his knuckle across my cheek, to a quick kiss on my brow. Joining together sexually deepened our bond, but I felt as if it only took one look from him to fuse us into one.

He cupped my face, stroking my cheeks, groaning into my mouth as I traced my fingers up and down his length. I hadn’t been teasing when I said I wanted to taste him, somethingnearly impossible in the water. But I would. Oh, yes, I would. He gave to everyone but never took anything for himself. That nearly broke me.

I tugged away only to send him a smile that dissolved into kisses along his strong jaw and down to his neck.

“When you bit me back at the estate, it meant something,” I whispered, touching the mark that still lingered on my skin.

“I should’ve asked you before biting.”

“I liked it. I don’t believe you can do anything I wouldn’t like.”

“I still should’ve asked.”
