Startled, Ian looked up at his mate before his eyes moved over to the man standing next to Colton. “Rom? What are you doing here? Last I heard you were in Canada.”
“Hi Ian, good to meet at last. I was there until I received an urgent message from Artur MacDùghlas. So, I hopped on a plane to Scotland.”
“I assume the father called you about his son.”
“Yes.”
“So, what happened? Why was Fionn locked in a cave with no food or water?”
“You do understand I’m bound by patient confidentiality?”
“Of course,” said Ian. “Let…”
“Hey Doc, ask him about what happened to him,” Kieran said, still standing next to Fionn, touching him.
Giving a nod of acknowledgement, Ian said, “Good idea. What happened to you Rom?”
“When Fionn’s father didn’t like my professional recommendation, he drugged my food and I assume Fionn’s also, and the next thing I knew I was shackled with silver bindings and chained to a wall. Fionn was nearby with what might best be described as restraints from the Dark Ages including a muzzle and a contraption to prevent him from standing. How did you convince his father to let us go?”
“Colton, can you get Logan?”
“Sure, be right back.”
“Just a sec, Rom…Kieran, what are you doing?”
“Just giving Fionn some love, Doc.”
Ian opened his mouth to speak but Rom held up his hand, stopping him.
“Let him be, Ian,” Rom said, then leaning in, whispered in Ian’s ear, “I don’t know who he is, but he’s very powerful. I promise it will only help Fionn.”
“Yes, you’re right…Kieran is a powerful Shaman,” Ian whispered back.
Logan came in with Colton and glanced at Kieran before saying. “My brother said you wanted to ask me something.”
“Yes, it’s about Fionn’s father,” said Ian. “I know how they ended up in the cave, but I was wondering how you convinced the father to let Fionn and Rom go?”
Logan was perplexed. Why was Ian askinghimabout this, when Kieran could have told him? “We didn’t. We found Fionn, and Rom was with him.”
“Fuck! You mean to tell me you kidnapped Fionn?”
“No, we rescued him. His father was trying to kill him along with the wolf shifter. He was going to die if we didn’t. Is there a problem?”
“Morally, no. Legally, yes! You need to call Jackson and let him know what happened. Fionn’s father can sue the Blackwood Pack for interfering in a family matter.”
“Sue us? What? Are you nuts? You saw the condition Fionn was in.”
“Please, Logan, call Jackson. Without his father’s permission, my hands are tied.”
Growling, Logan said, “Fine. Where can I make the call?”
“I’ll show you,” Colton said, leading Logan out of the room and showing him into an office. Before he shut the door, Colton added, “For what it’s worth, I think you made the right decision, bro.”
Logan sighed, called Jackson and waited to hear his twin’s voice.
“Don’t tell me you fucked it up with your mate already?” Jackson’s voice came through the phone.
“Hey! Don’t I get a hello? And by the way, Kieran and I are fine. I’m calling about something else.”
