“What made you pick that one?” asked Colton as he came up behind Ian, placing his hand protectively over their growing pup in Ian’s belly.
“I like the color combination and I knew it would look good on Theo, Norm and myself. Why?”
“It belongs to…well, didbelong to a very old, unique pack,” answered Colton. “Ian has been reading the History of the Scottish Wolf Shifters to me.”
“Really? Cool. I’m going to take tons of pictures of us wearing our kilts. Maybe we can learn a Highland dance while we’re there. Or play the bagpipes! Oh, my gods, Norm, I forgot to tell you, we must have a Scottish whiskey at the Wolf Pack Pub.”
“Scottish whiskey? Theo hasn’t even had a beer and neither have I and you want us to start with whiskey? I don’t know, Ki…”
“No problemo, we’ll start with a few beers first, but Norm…it’s the Wolf Pack Pub!”
“What so special about the ‘Wolf Pack Pub’?” Dylon asked, gently bouncing Jake in his arms.
Rolling his eyes, Kieran said, “It’s only the most famous shifter pub in Scotland. It’s been around forever and everyone who is anyone stops in to have a pint or a whiskey.” Looking at Dylon, he added, “You should travel more.”
Cody snorted. “I think this is where this conversation should end…Theo’s coming our way.”
“Hey everyone, Dakota says breakfast is ready,” Theo announced loudly as he stopped in front of Norman and then added quietly, “I hope you like the Frittata I made for you this morning.”
Pulling Theo into a hug, Norman whispered in Theo’s ear, “I’ll love anything you make for me.”
Ki smiled at his friends, happy they were beginning to enjoy their newfound freedom. Watching as everyonemoved towards the dining room, Kieran grabbed Cody’s arm, and said, “Do you have a sec?” After receiving a nod, he continued, “Two things…after breakfast can I show you something Zane and I made yesterday down in his computer room? And then can you assign me to Logan today? Zane said he’ll be writing a program all day and I can’t help him with that, but I would love to learn more about interior design. You already know how good I am at finding the right clothes, so I can look fabulous. So, I would love to learn how to dress a room, if you catch my drift.”
“Sure, but would you do me a favor?” Cody asked, “Would you take some time today to see Colton?”
Kieran nodded, “Okay, but if he treats me the way he did yesterday, I’m leaving!”
“Sure. And if he does, I’ll have Dylon show him the error of his ways,” Cody said with a wink.
Kieran laughed. “Uh huh.”
Neither had seen Logan sitting in the big chair hidden from view. Stunned, he remained where he was, trying to understand why he was so upset.Kieran going to Scotland? When did that fucking happen? And what did Colton do to Kieran yesterday? And Kieran’s working with me today? Unfuckingbelievable!Focusing on what was going to happen later, Logan was trying to figure a way out of his promise to Cody.Dumb, dumb, dumb. When Cody had approached him with the intern idea two fucking weeks ago, he agreed because he was sure he would get Norman or Theo. Not Kieran—never Kieran!
Fuck!Logan stood and walked slowly into the dining room, found his place and sat, ignoring all the chatter around him. Looking down at his cock, relieved to see it was behaving itself, the only thing Logan could see as abenefit to Kieran working with him was that it was today instead of yesterday.Oh shit! I gotta clean up my studio before Kieran arrives. Thank goodness I opened the windows before I left.Lost in his thoughts, he never heard Dakota, Lizzie and Theo come out of the kitchen until Carson jabbed him in the ribs. Looking up, he heard Theo talking about what he made for breakfast with Lizzie’s help. After they went back into the kitchen for the food, Dakota added his warning about being nice. Logan chuckled to himself; he knew someday his brother would be a great parent—so protective already. Catching Jackson’s eye, he smiled, knowing his twin was thinking the same thing.
Pushing aside his apprehension about Kieran working with him, Logan did what he always did while eating breakfast—organized his day. It helped him focus on accomplishing goals and kept his mind from wandering into areas he no longer wanted to think about. There were two jobs that needed to be done first—Jake and Jessica’s nursery and the plans for Cody’s home for boys.
Thinking about both of them, he decided the twins’ room was of the utmost importance. Right now, they were sleeping in the suite’s sitting room in portable cribs with all their pup stuff, but his nephew and niece really needed their own room. He had a rough plan in his head for the nursery, whereas the home for boys was still a muddled mess in his mind. Making a note to talk to Cody and Dylon later, he set down his fork after he finished Theo’s delicious dish. Looking around the table, his eyes landed on Theodore and he waited until there was a break in the conversation. “Hey, Theo? I enjoyed your frittata very much. It was delicious.”
Theo’s cheeks pinked as more praise joined Logan’s. After being nudged by Kieran on one side and Norman on the other, Theo said, “Thanks everyone. Dakota is agreat teacher as is Miss L. I love learning how to make these different dishes.”
“Oh, I know what will be perfect for you, Theo,” exclaimed Lizzie, “some lessons with Chef Dragontlovi! Right Dakota? I took a three-day course with him in San Francisco and had a fantastic time. I want to do another one…this time focusing on dinner. Maybe we can do it together when we get back from Scotland? I’ll talk to Frank about it. Only three days…that shouldn’t be a problem before I return home. What do you think? Would you like to go with me?”
Theo looked confused. “Who’s Chef Dragon…?” and he paused because he couldn’t remember the rest of the name.
Dakota answered, “He’s a world renown chef I had as a teacher when I attended culinary school. He now teaches these three-day courses at the Cordon Bleu Institute in San Francisco. Lizzie took one of his courses specializing in breakfast dishes. The frittata she taught you to make this morning was her signature dish from it.”
Theo looked at Norman and then Ki, who both nodded at him. Then seeking out Cody, he asked, “What do you think?”
“I think you have a real talent for cooking; the steaks you made last night and the frittata this morning were delicious. I think it’s worth considering. Talk it over with Norman and Kieran before you decide and after you come back from Scotland if you want to do it, then I say go for it.”
“Miss L, would you be going with me?”
“If I can, yes. I have to talk to Frank and see what his schedule is like after I get back. He went home early this morning because of council business, but I promise, I’lltalk to him. He might have a High Council affair I’ve got to attend with him, but let’s not worry about that now, sweetie. I’ll find a time we can do it.” Lizzie smiled. “It’ll be so much fun, and we might even have time to do some shopping. And wait until you eat at some of the restaurants there. The food is wonderful, and I’ve gotten so many ideas from all the different dishes I tried. You’ll love it, I know!”
“Theo, if Lizzie’s signature dish is an example of what you’ll learn, I think you’ll enjoy it,” said Jackson, then continuing, “Okay, listen up everyone, there’s a pack meeting in one hour in the great room. Attendance is mandatory so don’t be late. Logan, I’d like to see you in my study now if you’re available.” After receiving an affirmative, he turned to Steel. “Babe, would you give Daniel his bottle and then make sure he doesn’t need his diaper changed?”
“Sure,” said Steel, taking his son. “Come on big boy, you and I will have some fun.”
