“Nope, we are taking my car, sweetheart.” Jayme really does love calling me that pet name. “So, who’s blowing up your phone? Seems to have pissed you off.” So observant.

“Just a friend. No big deal.” I glance back over at Jayme. He still has his shirt off. “Jayme put a damn shirt on. This isn’t like California; you can’t just walk around half-naked.”

“Hmm, what a shame. You should try it sometime. You might like it.” Fucker.

“Hard pass. Now let’s go.”

As we head out to the parking lot, I realize what I need to do!

“Shotgun!” I scream as I go racing across the parking lot toward Jayme’s car. I am almost to the door, just a few more feet.

“Oh, no you don’t!” I’m suddenly lifted off the ground. Strong arms wrap around my waist, and he spins me around, facing the other way. He takes me by surprise and is able to turn and grab the handle. “HAHA, I win, you lose!” Geeze, what a child.

“That’s such crap. You cheated!”

“You are just a sore loser, Cassie. You don’t know how to use all your options to win.” He stands there gloating as Jayme approaches the car.

“Hey, sweetheart, catch.” He tosses me the keys. I can’t even speak; I am so stunned. “Just don’t crash us, okay? I borrowed it from a friend while I was here. She needs to be returned without a scratch.”

“Oh, Fuck yes!” I look at Lucian and stick my tongue out at him. He looks like you drop-kicked his puppy.

The feeling I am going to get from driving this baby is going to be pure ecstasy. Zero to 60 in 4 seconds, hell fucking yes.

29. Lucian

Poor Jayme didn’t even know what he was getting himself into by letting her drive his car. She looks all sweet, calm, and reserved... but behind the wheel, she is a fucking psychopath. A pure adrenalin junky. By the time we got to the restaurant, we were white knuckling for dear life. She raced down the freeway, completely out of the way to the restaurant, but she said she needed an open road. She is so lucky that there were no cops out tonight because, at one point, she had the thing over 100. Again, fucking psychopath. Dumbass Jayme didn’t even buckle up at first. When I joked with him about it, he said he was safe in the backseat. Then Cassie whipped around a corner, sending Jayme to the opposite side of the car, and hitting the door. It was hilarious.

Cassie is glowing. She looks like she is either high or just had the best sex of her life. Her hair is wild, pupils dilated, and she has the biggest grin on her face. She looks absolutely adorable. On the other hand, Jayme looks like he will be sick. Hey, she did what he asked. The car doesn’t even have a scratch. He never said anything about how fast she could drive.

“Um, Cassie. I think I will drive us home later. OK, sweetheart?” She looks at him with her puppy eyes. I can see Jayme tense up. He is a sucker for the puppy dog look. His past subs knew that was his weakness. “Listen, sweetheart, you drove great. It’s just I... I don’t think she is supposed to go 40 over the speed limit.” He slowly takes the keys from her, and she looks destroyed.

“Fine.” She huffs and pouts. I walk over and link my arm with hers.

“Come on, let’s go get you some tacos.” She goes back to smiling. That’s the look I love.

After we finished dinner, we head back to my place. Jayme was going to let me drive, but I decided to sit in the back with Cassie. Her tipsy ass ended up having a top-shelf Mucho margarita since, as she put it, “Richy rich” was paying. On top of that, she hasn’t eaten much today. So now I am sitting in the back with her as she giggles at some silly video on TikTok. My arm is around her shoulders, and she is cuddled to my side. My entire body feels at ease having her like this. I catch Jayme’s eyes in the rearview mirror, and he just smiles. Damn him for knowing shit about me that I didn’t even know.

I help Miss giggle’s up to the apartment. Jayme decides he is going to go unpack his stuff in the guest room and head to bed. I walk Cassie over to the couch, setting her down as gently as possible. Her shoulder is still sore, and I don’t want her hurting it worse in her tipsy state.

“Stay with me.” She says looking up at me. Her big, hazel eyes are so beautiful. I could stare at them all night.

“I’ll be right back. I’m just going to change for bed.” She looks down at her hands.

“Oh yea, it’s late. I should probably head home.”

“You are not leaving right now. You are going to stay here on the couch, and you can head home in the morning. It’s late and you drank.” I say sternly. Her cheeks flush red from being told what to do. There is no way I am letting her go home right now, let alone drive there. Good lord!

“But my bed is so much more comfortable than your couch.” She pats her hand on the cushion next to her, hinting at me to sit. So, I do.

“Fine, you can just sleep in my bed. I’ll take the couch.” It’s a sacrifice I am willing to make even though I haven’t gotten to sleep in my bed, let alone any bed, since I got back on Tuesday.

“Or... Now hear me out... We can share the bed like we did when we used to go camping. It’s a king size so it is big enough.” She giggles, completely blushing and all bashful from her suggestion.

“She can share my bed.” Of course, Jayme decides to come out here now. “What do you think, Cass? Do you need a cuddle buddy for the night?” He winks at her, and she blushes more. I want to punch him straight in his smug, cocky face.

She looks over at me as if she wants me to say something. What would I even say that wouldn’t make me sound like a possessive dick? She gives up and looks away from me back to Jayme.

“No, that’s OK, Jayme. Thanks anyway, I’m not a big cuddler.” Lies she loves cuddling.
