I LEANED BACK on my chair and looked at each person at the table. “I should think we can figure out the basic necessities for the spell. Our brainpower together? We’ll get it.”
King Belshazzar scratched at his chin. “A leaf that cleanses as it lauds would be a bay laurel.”
I narrowed my eyes at my soul mate. “Do you cook?”
“I prefer my dishes made for me.”
“Oh.” I shrugged my shoulders. “Bay leaf is in a lot of dishes.”
Dorian’s blond brows rose. “Don’t they use that in Mexican dishes?”
“I believe so.” I snorted, knowing where his mind was.
“Nachos.”
Yep. “After we save the world, we’ll have nachos.” My attention returned to the others. “I do know one. Heartsblood? Wise men? That’s frankincense.”
“The flower from the forest floor that’s white and sweet is sweet woodruff,” Lord Xenon murmured thoughtfully. “And an oil from a tree that’s used for health is argan oil.”
Lord Cato mentioned, “I knew that one, too.”
Joshua stifled a yawn. “Me, too. That one was easy.”
“Obviously, candles are needed,” Rilen added.
Roran tilted his head toward his twin. “Candleholders would be an excellent idea, too. It’s a bitch when candles fall over during a spell.”
“Very true.”
“Yes! Please, no one forget the candleholders. I do not want to start a fire inside the vampire stronghold.” Kimber’s eyes were wide. “Fire and vamps… I’d rather not have that on my conscience.”
Then, we sat there for ten minutes in silence.
King Belshazzar waved at everyone and started cracking his neck. “I’ll figure out the rest. You all can go back to your rooms. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.”
Kimber and her men quickly stood from the table, more than ready to have a moment of peace. Joshua followed on their heels, exiting the room as silently as a ghost, as Lord Xenon stood from his chair.
He muttered, “I’m going to watch the reports. There’s been an uptick in activity lately.”
Bel leaned back over the top of his chair and looked over his shoulder, whispering, “Tell a few guards to follow them. Tell them to be discreet and to make sure they don’t get themselves into trouble.”
“I will.” Lord Xenon maneuvered through the military personnel in the room and headed straight for the guards outside the command center.
My gaze finally rested on my father.
His brown eyes met mine. He quirked one brow.
King Belshazzar leaned to the side and grabbed the side of the door, flicking his wrist to slam it shut. His chilling blue eyes also landed on my father.
“Yes?” Lord Cato drawled lazily.
