“A man.” Aiko gulped hard. “A m-man told me to give it back to you.”

“A man told you to give it back to me?” I asked very slowly. “And yet you didn’t return it when I told you to?”

“This was no ordinary man.”

I blinked. “What did he look like?”

“White hair. That’s all I saw before…”

“Before what?”

“Pain. Lots andlotsof pain.”

My black brows furrowed together. “Druid or vampire?”

He waggled a finger at me, his eyes still far too large. “I think it was an alien.”

I snapped my mouth shut. “Do you need to stay out of this battle? I believe it’s fucking with your mind.”

“I’m not lying.”

I whistled quietly. “You actually believe that.”

He cleared his throat and then shook his head hard and wiggled out his shoulder. Finally, he raised his head. “Let’s just get back to the fighting.” A pointed finger. “But if you see an alien, Queen Gwynnore, you run in the opposite direction. I’m telling you that for your own safety.”

I rolled my eyes and gripped his elbow, pulling him along behind me. “All right there, spaceman. I’ll run away from aliens if I see one.”

My soul mate appeared before us in a rustling of wind. Bel bared his fangs and spoke, “There are hostages. I need assistance getting them all out of here.”

“Hostages?” I growled. “How many?”

Fucking Dorian. He jinxed this shit.

“Too fucking many. Follow me.”

I released Aiko’s arm. We raced behind Bel, shooting any human we saw. Many started exploding again, but others I just shot in the back of their heads, not giving a fuck.

Four buildings deep into the base, humans littered the ground with a furious Dorian standing in the middle of the carnage.

His features were barely recognizable from the blood painting him red. “Got all of them.”

I…could see that.

We literally had to climb up on top of the bodies and walk across them to get to the building’s door. The humans were piled four high.

“Nice work,” I mumbled in awe.

Dorian just hissed, still in a killing rage.

Aiko tore through the door with claws, and all of us ducked and slid inside.

My fangs were set loose. “What in the hell?”

“Help the ones who aren’t dead,” Bel growled and stalked forward into the room full of cages. “This is a priority.”

Dorian took a left down another row of enclosures.

Aiko turned back to the door and quickly finished ripping it to shreds so that we could move more easily throughout it. He stated furiously, “I’ll make a pathway through the bodies outside.” Then he was out the door.
