“Perhaps a little.”

I cracked my back, stretching my muscles out. “Were they able to mobilize the troops to Area 51?”Or could we go back to the stronghold for a little rest?

“They were.” He wrapped me within his arms and held me tight. “Lord Xenon wants us there within the hour. They’re moving in on the base as we speak.”

I withheld my sigh. Sleep would come when I was dead. “We might as well head there now and let your brother do his act again. It really united our people together, seeing us side-by-side.”

King Belshazzar dipped and placed a soft kiss against my lips—the sneaky bastard. “You know how to lead the vampires well, little one. I’m proud of you.” And…it was difficult to stay mad at him when he said things like that, and the truth of his words shone within his beautiful eyes.

I scowled as best I could and peered down the tip of my nose at him. “Of course I do. Don’t expect any less of me.”

“I never would.” He kissed my lips once more and stepped away from me. He retrieved the Original vampire amulet from his pocket to form the portal, stating, “I’ve always wanted to check out Area 51.”

“Think we’ll see aliens?” I snickered.

“If there were real aliens, maybe they’d be more challenging to kill than the humans. That would be exciting.”

My nose crinkled. “What if they had green blood?”

Aiko hummed. “More flavors to pick from then?”

I snapped my fingers at him. “Hey, that is an excellent thought.”

“I’m bored.” Dorian grunted.

King Belshazzar muttered, “Stay with me in Area 51. We’ll have fun together.”

Now…I kind of wanted to stay near Dorian.

I glanced at Aiko.

And sighed. Aiko didn’t stand a chance against Dorian.

Fun, be damned. I did not trust Bel’s twin enough.
