“An excuse to get out of the room.” The smirk slipped across my lips.

He let out a sigh and disappeared down the aisle. “How did you manage some of this at the school? Or in Savion’s castle?”

“Magic.”

“What?” He popped his head out from around the corner.

“Magic.” I held up a hand. “Wait, you haven’t been using magic to scan the books?”

“You can do that?”

I hoped my eyes showed him every iota of exasperation I was feeling. “Yes. Of course.”

“I didn’t—”

“It’s not going to read the book to you, but you can get a feel for the people who touched it before you, what their intentions were, what they might have found.”

Cocking his head, he just stared at me. “Huh.” Then, he was gone behind the shelves again.

With a shake of my head, I turned back to the book I was reading. It was quiet for a moment as I scanned the passages in front of me.

“Ha! This is amazing! Why didn’t I think of this?”

“You’re not a librarian,” I answered. “Someone taught me how to do it. Now you know.”

Rilen wasn’t very quiet as he traced his finger over the books and scrolls in the aisle he was in. I could hear chuckles, gasps, dismissals, and disgust as he walked along. I laughed quietly that he was having so much fun, and I was glad that someone as old as he and his brother could still learn new tricks.

“Oh! My goodness.”

The tone of his exclamation was scandalized, and he appeared between the stacks clutching a book. He looked half turned on and half shocked.

“What did you find?”

“A book on sex!”

“What?”

The book landed on the desk with a thump. “Sex. Love. Lovers. Good stars, but just the feeling of this is making me hot.”

I glanced down at the title.Kama Sutra.

“I don’t know those words.”

“Touch the cover.”

A sigh escaped me, and I dropped my hand on it.

The rush of pure lust and desire shot through my hand, up my arm, and suffused my entire body in a heartbeat. I felt every nerve in my body light up and, embarrassingly, a moan of pure ecstasy sounded in my throat. I had to jerk my hand away.

“What the hell is that?”

“I don’t know.” Leaning back, he looked at Crow standing at the door. “Can we take books from here?”

“Yes.”

A wicked, filthy grin spread across his face. “This is mine, for as long as it takes me to get through reading it.”

“Why do I imagine that I’m going to be very sore in the next few days?”
