“Aspen does. You’ve all seen the Gods of Mayhem here. Well, both of their missing daughters have found their way to us. I won’t go into her story, but Diana is Mimic’s mother. And Aspen is Irene. She changed her name when she got away from the Death Dogs. Aspen is Banshee’s old lady, and she knows Chasm.”

“What about yours and his?” Venom asked, motioning toward Mimic, and I heard the question he didn’t ask.

“My old lady works at the bar in town. Chasm was in there as a patron the night the Death Dogs attacked. He saved my woman’s life, and introduced himself as Jude.”

It was his birth name. Jude Peterson. Not everyone knew it. Many of the brothers knew his name was Jude, but they didn’t know who he was.

I suspected Steele had found out, and that was why he sent Chasm into that warehouse. I had my own suspicions as to why Chasm had stayed hidden. The message he’d given to Grace confirmed it. He thought I was the one who’d set the trap.

I was supposed to be in that warehouse with him. I should have been dead too. The fact that he hadn’t died led me to believe he knew it was a trap and had taken precautions.

The question was, why had Steele targeted him? What did Steele know? What had Chasm learned?

“I gotta say, brother. It’s suspicious as fuck,” Venom noted.

“She didn’t know him,” Mimic spoke up. I leaned back in my chair and nodded, letting him have the floor. “Indie and I were there when he gave Grace a message for King.”

“What was the message?” Zombie asked.

I blew out a breath. Mimic didn’t talk much, but when he did, he had a way of saying too fucking much.

“That he was coming for me.”

King

“What the fuck does that mean?” Angel shouted. “Why would Chasm be coming after you?”

“I was supposed to be on that run with him. I should have had his back in that warehouse. He blames me.”

It killed me to put that out there, but there was no other answer. When Grace told me what Chasm said, I knew immediately he held me responsible. I only hoped he’d hear me out before he fucking killed me. He was still my brother, and I hoped to God that still meant something.

“He has to know Steele was the reason you weren’t there,” Blade reasoned. I looked at my brother, my family. We’d gotten closer since finding out we were cousins.

“We don’t know what he knows.”

“He still trusts us enough to tell Aspen to stay put,” Banshee stated.

“What?” Zombie asked.

“A few months back, Aspen and I were staying at a nearby ranch. Aspen got it in her head to run, and when she left, Chasm was outside the cabin. He told her to stay; that we’d keep her safe.”

Looking over at Venom, I could see the distrust on his face. I had to admit, something didn’t feel right, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Nav. Knowing he was in Lincoln, I needed to take the call.

“I’ll be right back.”

I stepped into the main room. Seeing Zeus, I jogged down to my office before I answered.

“What’s up?”

“I screwed up,” he confessed.

“What the fuck did you do?” I asked, leaning against my desk. There was no point in getting comfortable; this call couldn’t last long, and knowing Nav, I would end up pissed off anyway.

“I let it slip in front of Sypher about Val’s death.”
