“So, what now?”

Tate met Kyren’s eyes through the rear-view mirror, then turned his gaze to me. “I think you’ve had enough excitement fortonight. Why don’t we go back to our room and watch television or something?”

I arched a brow. “Are you hinting at something else there?”

Chuckling, Tate shook his head. “No, no. We’ll save corrupting you further for a different night. Just hanging out.” He sighed and shifted gears as he led up back to the academy. “It’s just so sad we had to abandon those tacos. They were good.”

He was right. Out of everything that had gone wrong on this date, the tacos had been the best part. It made me said to think of those beautiful creations becoming soggy and cold with no one to appreciate them.

If I had it my way, no taco would ever be left behind.

Chapter twenty-seven

Jack

OfallthewaysI expected our date to go, this definitely wasn’t one of them. Me, sitting on Kyren’s bed, waiting for Tate to come back with a first aid kit.

Kyren stood a few feet away, his finger tapping his chin as his eyes drifting over to me every few seconds. Eventually, I sighed.

“You don’t have to hang out over there,” I hissed, picking at the shredded material on my knee and calf. “It’s your room.” I gripped the edges of the jeans and tried to carefully rip the material without hurting my leg further.

“Here.” Kyren knelt before me.

His hands grabbed the edges of my jeans and yanked. The material ripped up the middle, baring my knee and upper thigh. He did the same thing to the other end until the full extent of injury was visible.

I snorted, staring down at my ruined jeans. “I should have just taken them off.”

Kyren’s lips twitched, glancing up at me before dipping back down to the blood on my skin.

“Is it bad?” I winced, the shifted my leg to try to see it.

His fingers pressed along my flesh. “You should heal by tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?” I asked, licking my lips.

From previous experience, this kind of scrap would heal up in the next few hours. If a normal human servant would take at least a day, then I’d need to make sure to hide it from them until then.

Kyen’s fingers were still stroking along the edges of my wound, his eyes dark. Hungry.

Swallowing, I leaned back on my hands, lifting my leg. “You can…”

His dark gaze lifted to mine, a question in them.

I nodded to my knee.

Kyren dropped his eyes again. Instead of going straight for it like I thought, Kyren’s fingers found my boot. He unlaced it with nimble fingers before pulling it off. Then he lifted back the edges of my ruined jeans, exposing the length of my leg to mid-thigh.

My lips parted, and I breathed in deeply as he leaned toward me. His tongue gave a tentative lap, and the feel of it sent a strange feeling through me.

This wasn’t anything like when Kyren had bitten me before. For one, it didn’t hurt. The other was the lack of Tate’s fingers inside of me.

The thought of last time sent a surge of lust through me, settling between my thighs.

Kyren’s hands tightened on my leg, and his tongue worked my leg in long languid strokes. His hungry eyes lifted to meet mine with each flick of his tongue.

My pulse raced, and my breathing turned to pants. The touch was innocent, almost nothing at all, and he made it seem as if he was licking the most intimate part of me.

His mouth moved over my knee and up my thigh, no longer cleaning up the blood on my leg. My legs spread on their own, welcoming him before I even knew what I was asking for. Kyren’s lips reached the end of my jeans and, with one firm jerk, he ripped them the rest of the way, exposing the lace of my black underwear.
