Swallowing thickly, I licked my lips, jerking in surprise when I caught a taste of him. “That… doesn’t mean anything.”

Julian smirked. “Doesn’t it though?”

As quickly as he backed me into a corner, he released me, walking back to his desk like nothing had happened. He slipped his glasses back on his face while I panted by the door.

“No boyfriends on missions.”

I barely registered that I’d nodded before I grabbed the door handle and ran out into the hall.

My heart pounded in my chest as my feet moved across the campus. Julian had well and truly riled me up. Every piece of me was alive and begging to be touched and tasted.

Since Julian clearly wasn’t going to take care of my problem, I was going to the only other person who would.

I threw my bedroom door open, my eyes searching for Tate’s form. When he wasn’t there, I cursed and stalked back into the hall. Where else would he go?

Kyren.

I wouldn’t put it past Kyren to tell Tate about the interaction I had with Julian, which meant that Tate was likely still there.

Down the stairs to the vampires’ dorm, I realized quickly that I didn’t know which room was Kyren’s. I closed my eyes and breathed in, searching through the scents to find the ones that I’d grown to know as well as my own. Then my feet were moving on their own until I was standing before a dark wooden door reading two hundred.

Not bothering to knock, I opened the door.

My eyes found Tate, and the only thought that came to my mind was I should have knocked.

Chapter sixteen

Tate

Kyrenwastakingtoolong. He told me to wait in his room while he went to check on something, but it’d been over an hour.

Neither of us had an afternoon class today, so we were going to watch the rest of our show. We’d gotten behind in our binge this week.

Mostly on my part.

My lips curled at the thought of Jack. God, that woman. I couldn’t get enough of her. I could kiss her all day, every day. The taste of her lingered on my tongue. My fingers itched to touch her curves and feel her writhe beneath me.

I’d held back from taking her so far. It hadn't been easy, not with the way her scent practically begged me to sink into her.

I groaned and rolled over on Kyren’s bed, stroking a hand down my length.

There was no way I was going to be able to keep this up for much longer. I wanted her everywhere I could have her, and the wait was killing me.

The bedroom door slammed open, and Kyren barreled in. He seethed and prowled across the room. Our bond might only go one way, but I’d learned Kyren’s tells by now. Something had happened.

“Kyren?”

He didn't look at me, his shadows writhing along his arms before spreading across his body and across the floors. Slowly, his shadows filled the room with darkness. A cold brush of shadows wrapped around my ankle.

“Kyren. What’s wrong? What happened?”

His eyes flicked up and locked with mine, as if he just realized I was in the room. “I’m going to kill him.”

“Who?” I twisted around on the bed until I sat on the edge. “Who are we killing today?”

Kyren paused in his pacing. “That fucking hunter. The professor.”

“Oh.” I bobbed my head. “Jack said he was a bit of a tool. Is that where you were?” I grinned at him knowingly. “With Jack?”
